| I am looking for any infoemation on Henry Blake b. c1813-14 London area. Henry Blake is listed as arriving in Port Jackson on 25/7/1831 on the ship Camden. He is believed to have applied for permission to marry Martha Lever in 1842, thus proving him to be a Convict. From information on “The Port Jackson Convicts Anthology” – CD by Lesley Uebel, Henry Blake was transported from England on 21/3/1831 and arrived 25/7/1831 aged 18, on the first voyage of the "Camden" from Lomdon. He was charged at Newgate on 26/9/1830 and given a 14 years sentence. His marriage application to Martha Lever is also listed on the same CD. He received his Ticket of Leave 40/1365. Henry married Martha Lever on 26/12/1842 at St James Church, Melbourne, Victoira. They had 6 children that we know of: John bapt. 1843 St James Church, Melbourne, Victoira Charles bapt. 1845 St James Church, Melbourne, Victoira Mary b. c1850 Melbourne - Birth not found m. George Price William b. between 1851 & 1856 - Birth not found Ann/Annie b. c1857 Flemington - Birth not found m. Alfred Johnson (1) Henry Hall (2) Thomas b. 14/11/1858 Flemington Martha was most likely a free settler arriving in Victoris in 1841. She died on the 6/2/1865 in a Melbourne Hospital. From the date of Matha's death I have not been able to find any trace of Henry or the 4 sons. In the 1880's Mary and Annie were in Kerang and Mulwala respectively and then both in Numurkah where Annie died in 1947. I don't know if Henry and the boys also moved to Northern Victoria. Annie (1857) had the following children: Frances Louisa Blake 1/12/1880 Hotham, Vic - Illigitimate (raised by her aunt Mary) Thomas Alfred Johnson b. cNov. 1886 Mulwala, NSW Christina Maud Johnson b. 1888 Mulwala, NSW Alfred George Johnson b. 1890 Mulwala, NSW Any information on the place of Henry's death or information about whether he re-married would be greatly appreciated. I would also love to know what happened to the 4 boys if possible as well. Thank you for any help. Diane defect@lizzy.com.au |
