If he was registered (as he had to be at that time) the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons will have a record. I have yet to find a copy of the Veterinary Register on shelves at a library, but the RCVS archivist was very helpful by email some time back (two of my great-grandfathers were vets). I was very lucky: one went to India and I've been able to read his testimonials from his application to join the East India Company from the 1830s, in the original. Graham
