Holly,

I am related to the William Stewart (married to Susan McCormack) through William's brother, Samuel. According to our records, in addition to Samuel, William had sisters Mary and Jane and brothers George (son of Samuel 3rd of Dublin) another brother, Arthur who apparently had no children. Samuel (William's brother) is my ggg grandfather. He was married to Sara Woods, an English girl from Dublin. Their parents were Alexander Stewart who was married to Mary Faulkner or (Falkender?) of English descent and nicknamed "Polly". Home for the family in Ireland seems to have been near Ballybay, County Monaghan.

According to family records, this (parent) Alexander had a brother Arthur and sister Mary. We believe Alexander's father was also Alexander who emigrated from Scotland to North Ireland and went back and forth between the two countries as a cattle merchant. It is believed he died in Scotland or no passage between Scotland and Ireland. He may have been married to an Agnes Graham, but this is speculation without crediible dosumentation.

Interesting, thank you. You may have read my earlier post, William and Susan's son Richard Stewart, married my greatgrandfather's sister, Mary Raeburn. Furthermore, I believe there is a connection between Susan McCormack Stewart and my great great grandmother- Margaret McCormack Raeburn(born abt 1810) I think Susan and Margaret may be siblings...what I am looking for is a parentage of Susan as I haven't yet found one on Margaret. Do you know her parents names?
The Raeburn's came to Canada about 1841, I think the Stewarts did also...do you know when? And Where they may have settled at first? Your info is the closest I have gotten to a good location in Monaghan where the Raeburn's may have come from....(based on my therory)other info has lead me to Monaghan also...there are Raeburn's(of various spellings) all over Monaghan at that time...thanks for replying, if you want Richard and Mary's info I can send..(what I have)

Thanks Holly, I would be interested in the information on Richard and Mary. I'll see what I can find re the dates Stewarts likely went to Canada. Information I have indicated William (Sr) was born in 1800 in County Monaghan and died 1/28/1876 in Maple Valley, Ontario. Susan born in 1800 also, but can''t verify for sure. Confirms that she was born in County Monaghan as you indicate.

Send the informaition to my email if you do not want to post it here. I have birth dates for your William and Susan's children if you do not have them all. They were all born in County Monaghan. Have death dates and locations in Canada in some instances.

I hope the sharing of information will open up other links to the family so we can go further back into Ireland and Scotland.

Derwood

Possible connection. If I'm not mistaken, I have an ancestor from the Vasey Ontario area named Stewart who married an Irwin. If this sounds like a possible tie in, let me know and I will hunt down some dates.

I'm looking for Elizabeth Jane Stewart who married Thomas Hall in Jan 1858 please. [as per attachment]

Any help appreciated, this is all I have on them and trying to find births for them so I can trace them in Census etc.

Both were from Monaghan, Ireland. There is another couple with same names but these were grocers from Cavan, they lived in New Toronto. These are not my couple.

Regards
