William: Sorry that I have no "Nemac" info for you. Rather, I am more interested in your own name - "Brault" I am the great-grandaughter of Octavie Brault, b. abt 1860 in St. Jacques d L'Achigan, Quebec, d. 1942, Two Rivers, Wisconsin, daughter of Jean Elie Brault and Marcelline Gaudette, both of St. Jacques and wife of Joseph Lintereur (they had 14 children, all of whom survived to adulthood).

Every genealogist has their own special "Swiss cheese" section, where they can't seem to plug up the holes in their research. One such section for me has been the Brault family descendants of Jean Elie's parents, Joseph and Sophie Robichaud (second wife) and those from Madeline Cantin (first wife), particulary those born in the US after Jean Elie and his brother, Joseph (spouse - Euphemie Bourgeois) came to follow the lumber boom in the Peshtigo, Wisconsin area. Joseph came first, in the 1860's (before the fire of 1871) and Jean Elie arrived after the fire. You most likely descend from one of those two branches, given that you are inquiring about Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.

My five siblings and I were all born in Manitowoc. Many of the Brault descendants settled in Manitowoc County, taking factory jobs at the aluminum mills of Manitowoc and Two Rivers, afer the logging boom was over and the family farms of Marinette County, particularly those around Coleman, became too small to support the many descendants.

Please reply (if this gets through at all; I realize that a few years have passed since its initial posting, but any good genealogist follows up every possible lead, no matter how obscure) if you are interested in exchanging information. My hope is that you are a descendant of Joseph and Euphemie Bourgieous, as that is an especially weak limb on the family tree. I look forward to hearing from you.
