Looking for information on relatives that have information on any of the listed names. I know that in May of 1875, the Trutna's and the Pestal's came to Nebraska from the village of Gerschdorf in Moravia. Palasova Frantiska was my great-great-grandfather's first wife and she died in 1855. Josef Trutna remarried in 1857 to Frances Pestal, in Gerschdorf. Any information would be helpful. My grandgrandfather Johann Prokesch was born on 8.8.1880 in Vienna and was married with Maria Mickschitz, born on 21.4.1885 in Zwerndorf, Austria. The father of Johann Prokesch was Johann Prokesch who was born in Marvia, his occupation was bricklayer. He was married with Maria Cerny (daughter of Franz Cerny and Maria Stejskal). The parents of Johann Prokesch were Franz Prokesch and Elisabeth Fedra.

Hi Folks,
I am trying to find anyone whose immigrant ancestors may have arrived through the port of New Orleans ca. 1860.
The names I am particularly looking for are: MATULA (Kansas?), MORIS (Kansas?), MATULA (Kansas?), MARIANE (Texas?) and MORISAC (Kansas?). These families were traveling on the Neptune and stated these locations as their final destination.
There is one more name that appears. The spelling may, most likely, be misspelled. It is SHANACK (Texas?). It may be Sanak in the original.
If you have any of these names in your tree as arriving late 1860/early 1860 could you contact me?

I am trying to locate information on both my great-grandparents. My great-grandmother was Maggie Shue or Shoe is from the Marysville area. She was about 19 yrs younger than Charles. He worked on the bridge in Marysville Pa. I don't have much more than they moved to Mich. They did have 10 kids. I have one aunt who said Maggie's name was Margaret but on her tombstone it says Maggie. My dad has a picture of the tombstone. Thank you for any help.

Am searching for family and information on STEPHANUS BUGAN-ONDRAFSEK born 1856 married ANNA ZAJACZ in former Moravia, have 4 children, Madeleine, Rose, Vincent, and Martin who is my grandfather. ZORTON ANDRSIK BUGAN, his Slovak spelled surname, was born 9 AUG 1890. Martin (Zorton) married Sophie Susan SMEHIL in Webster, MA. They have 7 children, Stephen, Mary, Rosalie, Eva, Josephine, Alex, and John, my father.
I know that Sophia Smehil had a brother Frank and had lived in an orphange and also worked for another family as a cleaning lady, before immigrating to the U.S. about 1907., as their parents died young. Sophia's parents are Joseph and Mary HOLES^.
I am told SLADEK family are cousins to the BUGAN family. I had an Aunt Cecilia who lived in Detroit years ago.
I also would like to know where Frank Smehil is buried and where the orphanage may have been.

Can anyone tell me just where Mnisi, is? I can not find it on the Moravia map. I am trying to find family connections from Mnisi, - and what year or ship my family came on.

I've traced back Jakub Jaluvka born 1770 in Moravia.
He married Magdalena Polasek.
There children: Valentin born 1814 and Jakub born 1817 both in Mnisi.
Valentin married Barbora ?
Jakub married Johana Pustejovsky. Jakub Jalufka and Johana's children were:; Barbora, Ignac, Jan Johana, Jakub(again) born 1854 in Mnisi.
This Jakub married Marie Olsovsky born in 1862.
They had my grandfather Joe in 1882 at Praha, Texas. I can't find records of them coming here. Can anyone help?

Also any other surnames in Mnisi, I mentioned?
Anything you know about Mnisi at all?

Looking for family information on my great-grandmother, Antonie Hellinger Kulec Strouhal. Had eight children with Franz Kulec in the Podivin, Moravia area. He died in 1895. Later married Mr. Strouhal(first name unknown) moving to the Vienna, Austria, area. They had three children, Anthony, Stepanka and Anne Strouhal. I believe they lived in Vienna area and then returned to Hustopece, Czech Republic sometime in the late 1910's or the 1920's where they died. please help in my search to find info. on my last name fojtasek. i do know that frank fojtasek was born in 1840. my great-grandfather came from moravia and migrated into galveston. other than that i cant find anything about where they lived if they did anything significant. im not even sure that my ancestors came from moravia. i would love to go back hundreds of years to find out about my heritage. my guess is the name was spelled totally different and thats why i cant find anything. please help in any way you can i would really appreciate it.

Augustin Mlcak and wife, Frantiska Tomancek came to live in Austin Co., TX in 1871, first lived in San Felipe, and then moved to the Frydek Area. Came w/son, Anton, & 3 daus., Antonia "Tony" (m. Henry Burger), Frantiska "Fannie" (m. Mike Esar), and Florentina, d. young.

My great-grandparents Josef Kucerka (b.1874)& Andela Hucek (b.1881) came to the USA from Ujezd, Moravia in 1902. It has been difficult to locates teh exact tow as there are many towns called Ujezd. A familt photo takken list the photographer as S. Wasservogel (studios in Olumtz, Ostrava & 1 town in Poland)

I have a found am Ujezd close to Sehradice & Dolni Lhota & Horni Lhota in the Jihomoravsky district. Could this be the correct town?

Josef & Anna originally went to Camden, NJ, then Bristol, PA finally living in Philadelphia, PA.

Found grandmother on new Ellis Island web site, Marie MANAK, age 18. She immigrated in 1912 from "Lonka" Moravia. It also says her ethnicity was Austria, Bohemian. Any ideas on where "Lonka" is located? Can find nothing similar on any maps I can find. Any help appreciated.

We know very little about Marie. She went to work as a nanny or domestic in Chicago. Supposedly came from a family of 13 children. There were other Manak's on the same manifest - Franz, Anezka, Josef; could they be siblings??? As far as her daughter knows, she had no contact with any of her family after her marriage in 1916 to Jerry Heindl.

Josef and Marie [Krivanek?] VARAK came to US [Iowa} from LISNA, MORAVIA IN 1878, according to obituaries and 1900 US census. The oldest son Frank [1864-1950 ]was baptised Catholic by "Parson JOSEF CEKL'" but the youngest son Vincent [1874- 1951] was" baptised into the Evangelical church in Bohemia," according to their respective obituaries. Other children born in Moravia, and emmigrating with their parents were Anna and Josef.
Another daughter, Josephine Varak , came before 1878 [1870?] with other relatives , names unknown at this time.
1. Does the "Parson's" name help to pin down the location where records might be found?
2. Does anyone have a family story about ancestors bringing a niece or other relative to Iowa from Moravia, and then having her run away after overhearing a negative conversation?

Simon and Katharina are my 4 great grandparents. I believe they lived in Zabreh, Northern Moravia. I descend through their dau. Johanna b. 12 Sep 1836 in Zabreh. Johanna m. Valentin Josef Hajovsky 5 Oct 1854 in Sviadnov, Bohemia. Would like to hear from cousins from the U.S. (Texas, probably) and anyone else having information on these families.

Dvoracsek/Dworatschek in Mahren Around 1766

Stefan Stader's book, "Sammelwerk donauschwäbischer Kolonisten," states that Georg Dworatschek immigrated to Kernei, Hungary from Mahren in 1766 and that Jakob Dworatschek also left Mahren around 1766-69 to immigrate to Kernei. I am trying to locate their ancestral town in Mahren. Does anyone have any ideas about how I might do this? I'm not sure which spelling of the name was the original spelling in Mahren. Judi

i am looking for any information on this family.Jan Cermak who was born in Vysoke Myto Czech republic in 1835.He moved to Alexandrovka russia.He died in 1885.He left five children in russia.There names were Frantiska who was unmarried.Anna married a czech named Vednarik.They had a estate in Crimea in the cattle business.Sofia married a guy by the name of Samko.Rosalie married a guy by the name of Pavel Zasloupil they took over the farm estate in russia.Jana he traveled all over Russia.Any infomatin on this will be appractied.

My great-grandfather, Joseph Michalek, immigrated from Moravia in ~ 1880. According to his passport from Franz Josef I, Emperor of Austria - Hungary, Josef was born in 1864. His parents are Anthony Michalek and Magdalene Schramm. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
