Are there church records available for the Evangelische (Lutheran) church in Coswig, Anhalt for the early-to-mid-19th century? I could not find any such records on Latter Day Saint (Mormon) microfilm.
I am trying to find the maiden name of my gr.gr.gr. grandmother, Johanne (or Johanna) who married August Kettner.
I did find the Kettners on a civil census for Coswig, Anhalt in 1858. They had at least three daughters--Louise, Auguste and Johanne. August Kettner’s occupation was given as journeyman carpenter, if I read and interpreted the old script correctly.
Johanne Kettner was born 30 Aug. 1815, her husband August was born 15 Jan 1825. Their daughter Louise was born ca. 1846, their daughter Auguste was born ca. 1855; their daughter Johanne was born 9 Dec. 1857.
I would greatly appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you for your time and attention.

Hello, my great-great Grandfather was from Prussia and on his death certificate it said he was from Fensterberg, Provinz Sachsen. Not much is known about him so I don't know if he was born there or just happened to live there. His last name wasn't even german being Arnos or Arnus depending on where he spelled his name. I am also leaving this in the Prussia Board.

Johanna Gottfried Weise was born Oct.22,1768 and died 1841 in Ober-Olbersdorf. Anna Dorothea Geissler was born Feb.3,1781 in Ober-Olbersdorf and died 1847 in Olbersdorf
They were married August19,1799 in Zittau.
According to a obituary they had nine children, four sons
which one was my: great-great grandfather Carl Benjamin,
and five daughters.
Looking for any information about the other children.

Looking for any information on Robert Karl Meye (b 10 Aug 1850)with wife Marie and Robert's brother Gustave G Meye (b 31 Dec 1858) immigrated to USA 1881/1882. Per Gustave marriage license on file in Illinois, he was son of Gottfried and Christine Meye, Sachsen, Germany. Family history says one of their brothers stayed behind, possibly died while serving in German Army.

DOMSCH - SAXONY

I am searching for information on Friedrich Gustave Domsch born in Saxony c1852. He married Margaret O'Shea in London in 1875. Their first child Ellen was born in London in 1876. the family then seems to have moved back to Saxony as the next 3 children, Louise (Lucy?), Frank Gustave and William were born in Saxony. the family then returned to London c 1885. Friederich was a Tailor by trade.

Any information on Friedrich or suggestions on how to search further on the Domsch family would be appreciated.

My interest is that my husband is a distant relation to Margaret O'Shea who married Friedrich Domsch.

Hi. I am looking for information on William C. Anhalt born 20 December 1844 near Magdeburg. He came to the US in 1871 and settled in Burlington, Iowa where he worked as a railroad worker. He had a hereditary disease called CMT, which many of his descendants have today. He and all the members of his family were members of the Lutheran Church. He served in the Franco-Prussian war. I have a good history of him after he came to the US. I would like to get information on him and his family in Germany. This man stated on his marriage certificate in 1886 that his native place was Fairwater, Germany and that his parents were Richard & Johanna Poltik. How he ended up in Victoria, Australia is a mystery. Based on his age stated on his death certificate he may have been born in the 1850's.
I am looking for any info on this man.

Seeking information on birth of Samuel Herman Newman GRUNAUER. IGI indicates he is born in Dresden January 1849. This date being before civil registration, I believe.

He later emigrates to South America, lives his life there, establishing a large clan of Grunauers, of whom my wife is one.

Curiously he dies in Cincinnati 1906.

Dear everyone,
I have reached a dead end. I have found following during my writing to the town mügeln, but hope anyone can help me further:

My grandfather was: Karl Otto Adam born 1885 in Mügeln: Sibling: Emil Frantz Fischer, Marie Ida Adam, Mari Elsa Adam and Marie Helene Adam .
He was marrie in Denmark to Emma Elisabeth Adam. He came to Denmark just before the WWI.
My great grandparents were: Karl Johann Georg Adam (1860-1926) and Marie Amalie Fischer (1859-1946). They both died
in Zwickau, but lived for a period in Mügeln, where my grandfather was born.
They married in 1884 in Mügeln.

My grandfather had also some half-siblings (I do not know who the mother was, but I have postcards with Günther Adam, Paul Adam and Frantz Adam as soldiers in WWI, and some names written down s Emma, Linna Fritz Adam.
He also had a cousin named Ernst Michalowski. I also have a postcard of him from WWI where he is photografed as a pilot.
Kan anyone help me further with my family ADAM and FISCHER?

It has been reported on the internet that my following ancestors were born in Dresden, Saxony, Germany:

Elias Dietrich b. 27 Jan 1713
Wilhelm Emanuel Dietrich b. 1680 (father of Elias 1713)
(The father of Wilhelm Emanuel was Johann Peter Dietrich. Johann Peter might have married Anna Maria Stunz in Dresden.)

The above probably attended a Lutheran church. My question is: Where should I look to find information on these ancestors and their immediate relatives? I don't speak nor read German, so this complicates my research. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this is the correct site for Mainz,-should I be on the Kingdom of Hanover site instead? My ancestor was a physician in Mainz-We have some early telegraphs of consultations( re patient care) indicating his practice to be in Mainz. Any leads to info would be most welcomed-...Also, any info re my GGF,Bactien Adulf Louiel Korner of KoburgGotha, a veternarian from Agneshof,Streiltz,Anklam (Posen, Prussia) who I suppose would either be the Mainz doctor's son or grandson, or at least nephew or grandnephew. After reading some of Robert's comments re history-is it possible the family lost touch because of the 7 year war between Prussia and Austria/Hanover?...

Dunable is the current spellling. Many census' show different possible spellings. Frederick Dunable and an unknown wife w/their four children show on Census' that they came from Prussia. The daughters death certificate states Sunhouser Germany as place of birth. 1881 farmers director shows a brothers place of birth only as Saxony. Any help in trying to locate these places or names would be much appreciated.

Fuchs/Badhauser family at Leipzig

Looking for information reguarding the parents of Carl Frederich Fuchs born in 1841 at or near Leipzig. He possibly worked as a guard or some sort of military policeman at a castle nearby. He married Christina Fredericka Badhauser and had the following children: August Frederich born about 1874, Berta Anna Maria born 1878, Agnes born about 1880, Rosina, and Maria born about 1884.
This family immigrated to Buffalo, NY from the Kingdom of Saxony on 5 June 1884. They departed from the port of Bremen, Germany. The wife Fredericka's name on the NY Passenger List is listed as "Ricke". She died within a year of their arrival with a newborn son. He died at Buffalo, NY about 1904.
I'm pretty certain this family was Lutheran. If anyone knows of this family or family name around Leipzig, please e-mail me. Thanks! Marguerite Butzow

Need any info re my GGGGF, Dr Koerner-have his original doctorate from 1835 but it's entirely in latin. The largest letters near the top are"FRIDERICI GVILELMI III " which may refer to the ruler of that time. Somewhat smaller letters several lines below are "MALTE PVTBVS" and further down in still smaller letters are what seems to be professors names ending in Parow, Barkow, and Berndt. If anyone has a clue as to what medical school this may be from or any other info, it would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Trying to find the parents of Charles/Carl/Karl Kuehne/Kuehn. He was born in Dresden, Germany about 1846 married Catherine Kohlbrrok (not sure the spelling of Catherine's last name) before 1873. Came to the USA about 1873 settling in first Chicago and then Joiliet, Illinois were he opened a butcher shop. First child Martha was born in Germany 1873, second child Clara, Clara married a Schoop they had one child a daughter born about 1904 Henrietta, born in Chicago, Illinois about 1876. Trying to find any information about Franz (Frank) Rothenbecker who was born in Fliegenberg in Sept. of 1837, emigrated to the U.S. in 1866. Sailed from LaHavre to N.Y. on the Harpswell.

My ancestor, Ernst Johan Grafe, was born in Kleinbautzen Feb. 4, 1839. In 1868 his father died suddenly in Kleinbautzen and Ernst took over his father's pub. Does anyone know how I could get a birth record for Ernst? Find Lutheran church information for Kleinbautzen or learn of this pub owned by the Grafe family in the 1860's??

Zoeller: Saxony and Luxembourg

Can anyone tell me why a man of Saxon lineage would be a citizen of Luxembourg in the early 1800s? (He and his family left Luxembourg in 1845-46 for America.)Would his ancestors have run from the Protestant revolt to a Catholic area of Europe, or would it have been for another reason, such as a military one?

Searching for information on my ggg-grandparents Gottfried and Susanna (Dresje) Melzner. In 1850-60 census records in Wisconsin they state there origins as either Saxony or Prussia. Two children state Saxony, one states Prussia. Gottfried born January 8, 1797, Susanna born Dec 23, 1799.

Herman Mueller and Amelia Margaret Pinkowski were married in Saxony in about 1878 and came to America in May, 1888 on the "America" from Bremen to Baltimore. Can anyone advise me on research in Saxony to find their church, birth or marriage records. The only clue I have is an unidentified note that says "Zoomocheen" His parents were Joseph Mueller and Elizabeth Frankenberg (from Saxony) I have the family well documented in America but want to research their ancestry.

Baron Albert Maria von St Luz-Boden, born in 1819 in Mieseberg, Sazony.

Those details are on some of our family records and the spelling is exactly as passed down. This man married a Kirby ancestor in about 1853/4 in Victoria, Australia. He owned a large sheep / cattle property and is known to have left for California.

I have found a man of the same name being married in El Paso, Texas.

At the moment I am having trouble even finding Mieseberg but do not know enough about towns or cities to speculate on better spelling.

Any assistance on how to resesrch this man would be appreciated - as, of course would any information on the family.

Looking for info on David Wilde b 1801 and married to Louisa JoAnna Sack b 1814 in Prussia, one child we know of for sure Amelia Wilde b. 1838 in Naumark, Germany she married in Germany in 1857 to Herman Zellmer.

Matthaeus Mirschoffsky

My ancestors alledgedly were the Knights of Mirosov, Mirosov being southwest of Prague, near Rokycany. The became Hussites and the family split, one branch going to Caslav where my ancestor Matthaeus Mirschoffsky left from to go the Kingdom of Saxony in the 1690's.

I am trying to find Matthaeus' parents in or about the village of Okresanec by Caslav. They, unfortunately, were Protestant.
