Gail,
I gave up on the LDS films. They were hard to read and it took so much time. What I did was hire a professional genealogist from Wroclaw (which was Breslau), Poland (through the internet) to research my family. It took quite a few months for her to locate and finish all her research and documentation, but I'm very pleased with what she found. She was only able to go back a couple of generations (to about 1860) because so many of the records have been destroyed or lost, but she knows German and Polish and could decipher all the documents. I thought that her charges were reasonable. I think that they were something like $15 per hour plus any other expenses. Since she lives in Wroclaw and that is where my ancestors were from, things were relatively easy for her. If you have more questions, let me know. Say, are you familiar with what happened in Breslau during and at the end of WWll?
