I am interested in any information on James Pearcy and Elizabeth Evans of Heart's Content. Their son was Herbert John Pearcy b 18886 who immigrated to Boston about 1906. He married Minnie Miles (b 1883)who immigrated about 1898. Her sister who also immigrated was Mary (May) Miles (b 1873). Their parents were John Miles and Elizabeth Rockwood possibly also from Heart's Content. Any information on these families would be helpful.

I am also interested in the Rockwood family from Heart's Content, specifically Aaron Henry Rockwood who married Ellen Lahey in 1886; Aaron and Ellen were both born in 1855 in Heart’s Content. I know all the Rockwood families of Heart’s Content seem to be related but I am unable to make any connections other than a Nellie Rockwood born in 1901 and listed as an adopted daughter in the 1921 census of Heart’s Content.
If anyone has any info on the Rockwood family I would be very interested and very thankful.

I have information on the Rockwoods of Heart's Content although much of it is in storage right now. I do have a note of Henry Rockwood marrying Ellen Leahy on November 15, 1886. I believe Henry's parents were Richard Rockwood and Rosina Legge. That would make him my great-grandfather's brother. Richard and Rosina's children were: Mark, Frederick, John, Henry, Selina, Emma and Mary. Richard's parents were William Rockwood and Susannah Bugden. I don't have all of this documented although I have recorded it in my charts.

The information about Aaron Henry Rockwood & Ellen Lahey, the date is correct but there is a Henry who shows up in the 1921 census born in Heart’s Content in Feb 1861 married to a Mary A Rockwood born Trinity, Feb 1867. I wonder if this is your Henry or is their Henry and also an Aaron Henry in the same family. Would you have any birth records and dates?
Aaron Rockwood is shown in the same census born Aug 1855 as a widower with one adopted child Nellie born July 1901.

My mother was a Rockwood born in Heart's Content in 1908.Her father's name was Edgar son of Captain Jonas Rockwood by his second wife AnneMarie Lahey of Heart's Desire. My grandfather was half brother to Mark, Aaron, Richard and Adam Rockwood. There are other half brothers.
I visited Heart's Content in the 1930s and now own the house of my great uncle Charles Rockwood and his wife the famous Lucy Hiscock Rockwood. I also own the property where the elder Mark Rockwood lived.
I have been studying the Rockwood family for seventeen years and just returned from England where I researched the ancient family going back a thousand plus years.
I visit NFLd every year and would be pleased to meet any Rockwoods. I have a lot of information to share.

James Piercey was my Great Grand father. Herbert John Piercey was the brother of my grandfather Levi Piercey. I have some information about the background of the Pierceys and Rockwoods.. who were located in Heart's Content. Elizabeth Evans came from New Melbourne and the family may have also lived in Hant's Harbour. I don't have anything on John Piercey except he moved to Boston early in the 1900's.. He had a niece who also moved to Boston ..Her name was Beatrice and she married a Peter O'Hare from Boston..

I have checked some of the death records and have found many Rockwood deaths, mainly children. Many were just days old. I can send them to you if you are interested.
