Robert Simons was my 4-greats uncle, born in Birtley, Durham, England 1794. His father Joseph died in 1807 and the family manifestly broke up. He almost certainly turns up in the IGI as marrying 1817 Susan Thomas, born Cape Breton (mis-transcribed as Cape Hueton) in 1802. IGI has his death as 1852 and hers 1854, but gives no useful source information and Susan's record is in tripicate. There is a weird mention of Texana, Calhoun County, Texas, Missouri as well! I would love to disentangle all this...but have no real clue where to go next. Any help welcomed (I visited Joseph's grave this week in Chester-le-Street, Durham, and also Robert's sister Phoebe's memorial nearby...
