Classification: Query
Surnames: Johnston, Johnstone
In 1912 Frank Johnston of Pendleton, N. Plantagenet Twp., Prescott Co., moved his cattle to a new farm near Winchester.
Frank was a descendant of Francis "Frank" Johnston, b. 1805 in Ireland, and Frances "Fanny" Hurst, b. 1804 in Co. Derry, Ireland. Francis had 2 brothers, Robert "Red Robin", b. 1808 in Ireland, and Archibald "Archi", b. 1815 in Ireland, both of whom owned farms close to Pendleton.
We have often wondered if Frank and his family had been in touch with other Johnston families in the Winchester area as it seemed to be quite a move to make without some knowledge of the area or friends in the area.
Today I came across an listing about a Christopher Johnston who came from Scotland to the Winchester area in 1885. Immediately I was struck by the given name Christopher as it is most commonly used by a Johnston/e family branch in Scotland known as the Johnston/es in Poldean. In addition, Christopher had lived very close to the area where the majority of the Johnstons in Poldean lived in Scotland.
I would like to contact any descendants of this Christopher Johnston with the intent of having a male descendant take a Y-DNA test. Here is a link to our Johnstons in Poldean group which will help explain a few things about us:

Any assistance will be much appreciated,
Good hunting,
