Gerdis
I have hit a brick wall and don't know how to break down the brick wall or if it can be broken for.
George Frederick William Gerdes [Gerdis] was born 10 Nov 1861 at Montreal and moved to the Clarendon area with his family before 1866. George married Eunice Louise VanKoughnett on 5th Oct 1885 at Herschel TP. After their marriage George & Eunice lived on the old Vankoughneet farm [which later became the old Bremner Farm] about 7/8 miles north west of the town of Bancroft. The story is that George was killed shortly after their marriage in a hunting accident.
I am trying to find George's death date and where he is buried.George was of the Methodist faith. I have searched ancestory.ca with all possibilities I can think of with no luck. Eunice shows up on the 1891 census living with her parents John & Samantha & was listed as Louisa Vankougnett.
Eunice remarried James Bremner on Apr 11, 1899 at Bancroft. This time she was going by the last name Gerdis. Eunice Gerdis Bremner is buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Bancroft.
It seems George was buried but there is was never a headstone put up. The only other thing that I can think of is burial records. Would burial records exist for Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bancroft or any other cemeteries that might have been close to the Vankoughnett farm. The other possibilty I wondered about was that perhaps George was taken back to the Ardoch area to be buried. Unfortunately I can't cemetery records for my Gerdis' their either. I tried to find burial records for the United Cemetery at Ardoch but can't find anybody that might know if they exist.
That pretty much sumerizes my brick wall. If anyone out there has any ideas I sure would appreciate hearing them.
