Surnames: KRATZ - SCRATCH
Having noticed a number of postings mentioning the
surname of SCRATCH, I find it interesting that any
family researcher would not try to find the original
progenitor of the Scratch name, who was Leonhard KRATZ
(this being a direct translation from the German name to
its English meaning). He was a Hessian Soldier with the
Hanau Regiment Erbprinz who was captured at Saratoga
in October of 1777 as part of the Burgoyne army. I have
written his history from date of birth to his death and
final resting place at the shores of Lake Erie at Kingsville.
Any of his descendants may write to me direct for
additional information. I also have a long list of proud
descendants living all over North-America, who have
corresponded with me during the last 15 years.
