Horton circa 1800 in Niagara area
Subject: Niagara-area Hortons circa 1800
In case anyone has ideas or suggestions on how to follow the Niagara-area David Horton lead (RootsWeb posts below.) Thanks!
My data (oral history collected in the 1920s-1950s) says that John B. Horton
was born May 2, 1803 ... that he was a Canadian .... that the family was
perhaps originally from Ireland.
He reportedly moved to Indiana from the Niagara area when he was about 25.
He raised a family with Emily Hennegan in Indiana and died in 1847.
He had family (siblings I guess) that "stayed East." Perhaps a brother
David. So there were other Hortons did not go to Indiana with him.
So, I am searching for a Canadian Horton family that had a son John born
about 1803... with possibly another son David amongst the group. Not sure
how long these Hortons would have been in Canada.. maybe not long.
I am seeking a family of Hortons with an Ireland/Canada link, with a son
John born early 1800s... I have also found mention of a Hahn Horton.
I have found online traces of a David Horton in Pellham, and a Samuel Horton
in Elgin, and would like to network with other Horton researchers who have
found ties to the Niagara area.
I have found these posts on-line, but have not been able to connect with the posting parties:

Looking for information on David F. Horton. He lived in Pelham Township,
Niagara, Ont., Canada in July 8, 1817 age 21 years old. Believe to be
the son of Isaac Horton of Pelham born 1750 in Westchester Co., N.Y.
David Horton married Lydia Swayze about 1816.
