Visited the Little Current Library today and they have a nice collection of Manitoulin Expositor Reels.
Sorry no luck today - went twice over January 1899 for the McDonald name.
The year 1909 has been lost - at least here in Little Current, Librarian didn't if the Archives would have that year.
Just to prove I was there --- ha ha, here is one of the Obituaries I got.

DEATH OF MR.DONALD MCKENZIE
We have this week to chronicle the death of Mr. Donald McKenzie one of the oldest residences of Little Current.
Mr. McKenzie when he was a young man moved from Chicago to Owen Sound
At Owen Sound be carried on a fishing and trading business for a number of years From Owen Sound he moved to
Wikwemikong, Manitoulin where he conducted store for a time. He then :went to Clove Islands lands and from there came to LittleCurrent about thirty-five years ago.When he arrived here there was one frame house and one frame- store..the rest of the bulldogs were log and inhabited by Indians.
the only white families who were residents at that time were Mr. May's and Mr. Burkitt's
Mr. McKenzie built the second frame in the place. Shortly after coming to Little Current he was appointed constable which position he held for a number of years; He was also appointed lighthouse keeper and for the space of thirty-one years he took care of the two lights here. During this long, time he performed his duties faithfully and never a complaint was made against him He.also had for upwards of twenty years the appointment of bailiff which office he was forced to resign on account of failing health.
Mr. McKenzie was married three times, his last wife dying a few years ago
ago. ' Of his first family there are still living, Mr. Wm. Mckenzief Mrs. Burkett and Mrs. James Stringer, and of his last family five still remain, Donald, Kenneth, Jennetta, Janie, and Mrs. Wm Mickie.
Mr.McKenzie was a kind husband and father who at all times would sac saciface any thing for the benefit of his children. He was a constant Christian and a member of the Presbyterian Church. For several years he has not been enjoying the best of health having contracted that dread disease- consumption His death was hourly .expected ,when he took to bleeding last Friday it was clear that the end -was near at hand.
Though gradually growing weaker and weaker He bore firmly up until about four o'clock Monday afternoon when the end came and his spirit passed into that land; which knows no sorrow
He had reached the allotted time of life being 75 years, 6| months, 11 days old
His funeral conducted by Rev. V.K. Beshgetoor, took place Tuesday to Holy Trinity Cemetery and was followed by a large concourse of sympathizing friends
