I am researching the Richard William Pennell line.
I know he married Carrie M.E. Sullivan about 1900. Carrie died in 1906 and is buried at Calvin Union Cemetary in North Bay.
I believe Richard's father was George who came to Canada from England.

Carrie and Richard had a son Walter Richard Pennell (my grandfather)who was born in 1904 and is buried at Union Cemetary with his wife Martha nee: Miller.
They had 5 other children: William b: 1913, Alex b: 1916, Carrie b: 1917, Charlotte Emily b: 1919 and Austin b: unk

It is possible he and his wife Pheobe may have died there and are buried in the area.

John and Mary Twigger had immigrated from England to Pennsylvania, U.S.A, before moving to Alice Township, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada by 1880's. John and Mary Twigger had children names Joseph James, Edith, John N., Elizabeth, Eda, George, Joseph, Lucy Jane, Charlotte, Adaline.

Joseph James Twigger, from the list of children names above, had married Laura Campbell and had one child, Anna Violet Grace - in the Subury District. Joseph died early, so Mary remarried Irwin Miller. Trying to find more info on Irwin too (likely from PA / USA).

Hi,

I am trying to trace the family of my great Uncle, his name is William Frederick Metcalfe, he was born in Sheffield Yorkshire UK in 1891 or 1892, his parents are Ann Radcliffe and George Frederick Metcalfe. His Mother died when he was about 5 yrs of age. He, my grandfather and their father, stepmother and half brother moved to Canada in 1906 and lived in Mckim in the Nipissing area of Ontario. I have found him and his wife listed on the 1911 Canadian census, his wife's name is Lelian Meleslfo and I think their children's names are Eleanor and Ross. My grandfather and the rest of the family eventually moved to Australia around 1915 but my great Uncle William and his wife stayed in Canada.

Any help with this family would be appreciated as my family has not had contact with any of his branch in a very long time and I would love to add his descendants to my family tree.

I am looking for any record of my Great Grandfather's family at the time they lived in Mattawa. He was Alexander McLellan (married Susan Lord) and had several children, including my Grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth McLellan (later married Henry Burton Nichols in North Bay), Lucy, Willie, and others. Alexander does not show up in the 1901 census although he should have still been alive. Although I have a lot of information about those family members who later moved to North Bay, other than newspaper articles, I have not been able to find any records of them living in Mattawa.

I am researching my father's family line, and am not able to find any information about his father's side of the family.

My grandfather's name is Reginal/Rudolphe Potvin and was born in Sept 1912 to Joseph Potvin and Georgianna(?) Serre. His birthplace may have been Crystal Falls, ON or possibly Massechusets, USA. He passed away 02Dec1992 in Hamilton, ON.

He married Marguerite Rose Sicard/Secord on 11Oct1932 in Gogama, ON and had 6 children, Alphonse, Philippe, Henri, Estelle, Janine and Louise.

Storie School..

I came across an article that said there was a school in the Nipissing twp called the Storie School S.S. No.3 Nipissing, it was established in the latter part of the nineteeth century. The first school was built of logs on the property now owned by a George Aultman and across from Bush's mill.. Apparently this school served part of south Himsworth twp. To this school came the children of Monroe, McDaniel,Gougeon and Delahunt families as well as those of Nipissing twp-Mechefske, Toeppner, Storie, Eckford, Aultman Glen, Gorman and Rennette families,,

Looking for information on the Alexander PARKS family listed on the 1901 census for ON RENFREW (South/Sud) Sebastopol. Alexander b 1/9/1844; Jane his wife b 3/28/1848; the children were Daniel b. 7/1/1884; Margaret b 3/15/1888; Mary 3/25/1889; Annie 9/1/1891; Bridget 11/6/1893; and a nephew Edward MEAGHER b 12/13/1884. Think Daniel moved to Pierce Co. WI USA before 1910 , his sister Beatrice (is that Bridget?) moved to Barron Co. WI USA and later to Pierce Co. and Mary married (married name unknown), had children who were baptized by the same priest who baptized the Dionne quints and lived near North Bay Ontario. Think one of Mary's sons was a newspaper reporter in or near North Bay and another son came to Pierce Co. to visit his Uncle Dan PARKS and the many other PARKS who lived in Pierce and Barron Cos. WI.
The same Alexander PARKS family (with many of the children gone) was enumerated at Eganville, Renfrew South, Ontario in the 1911 census. Linda age 22 was listed but not in 1901.

Seeking information on the death and grave location of Elizabeth "Lizzie" Stewart who died in North Bay on January 15, 1890 due to complications of child birthing a daughter, Mary Ellen Stewart, born January 12, 1890, died January 13, 1890. Her grave location is also not known. I have some information that the burial took place for Elizabeth on January 17, 1890, St. John's Anglican Church. I have been told that no newspapers have survived from this time period. No death registration could be found for Elizabeth after extensive searchs. Her maiden name was Cairnes. Her husband was Charles Edward Stewart, and they had 2 young children, Florence and little Charles, both born in Brockville.

I am looking for any info on George Brown who married Charlotte Gerow in Nipissing District abt 1895. George and Charlotte had a daughter (Famie or Phoeme). George was killed by lightening while sitting with his infant daughter in his arms. Does this sound familiar to anyone.
I do know that George was killed abt 1899. Charlotte remarried Charles Amos Miller after George was killed and stayed in the Nipissing District and ran a store at (Graham's Corner) Bonfield.

I am hoping that somebody has information about my grandmother and her family. Her married name is or was Isabell Bebee. Her maiden was Macdonald or McDonald. As much as I know, she had 3 children, possibly 4. Garnet Bebee, Leona Bebee (now Leona Snider), my dad Kenneth Bebee, born Feb. 17 1945. Isabell may have had another daughter. David Burke had a daughter Mary Agnes Burke who married John George McDonnell. He died in 1910 and I have been unable to locate his widow Mary Agnes. As shown above Mary and Johns 3 daughters are staying with their grandfather. The 3 daughters are listed as McDonald as the name McDonnell was frequently mis-spelt.

I'm trying to track down the descendants of Christian "Christy" and Anna Marie (Nelson) Yensen. They had four children: Johanna (my great-grandmother), Mary Christina, Henry and Maria. Johanna had a child Christina with George McIlvenna but did not marry him. She married Thomas Ransome and had two more children: Robert and Bertha. Mary had at least two children (Jenny and Katie) and is rumoured to have married a Paul Cyr. Henry married (unknown) and had at least one son; Hubert. Marie married Robert Ransome (Thomas' brother).

I cannot find any information on my mother. She was injured in 1966 and I can only remember bits and pieces of her childhood stories. Her Father's name was supposed to be Michael. She had a sister Mary (who married a man Harry Burley and resided with their son ((Robert) and daughter in Niagra Falls, Canada), a brother John and brother Peter. She mentioned living in Sudbury Ontario. I have her social security card and Immigration Green Card w/registration number. She used to say she was Austrian and Ukranian, but was a citizen of Canada until an amnesty in the US granted her "legal" status. I have searched Canadian crossings, Mexican crossings (my father was Mexican and I can easily find his info), Austrian ship logs, census for both US and Canada. Her parents supposedly died when she was very young and was taken by a neighbor. She mentions the Prospect Hotel in Sudbury, but it appears to no longer exists.

Any assistance you can give in pointing me to the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to find information relating to a family story about a name change four generations ago.

I'm looking for information about my gggrandfather, who was born La Framboise but who changed his name to Raspberry and then back to LaFramboise (according to family history). He was the father of John Forest Raspberry. Mr. LaFramboise/Raspberry may have married an Irish woman (mother of John Forest Raspberry), and then remarried later.

The original surname could have been LaFramboise or La Framboise.

Some time ago,my mother met someone on the train to the Lakehead who had the surname Bean and was from North Bay. He invited her to check out the possible relatives but she never did. Now I am. My ggm was Adele Cousineau and she married Thomas/Damasse Lefebvre/Bean in 1867. They had 11 children. We are having quite a time with her age! Family word of mouth has her dying at 103 but ages recorded in Ontario Census 1891 and 1901 come nowhere near that. HELP! Are there any Bean historians in North Bay/Mattawa area?

Looking for John B. Renaud (b. 1854, Black River, Pontiac)who married Jane Jordan (b. 1855, Eganville, Renfrew) in Mattawa, 1884. John is the oldest son of Alexander Renaud & Bridget Donnelly of Haileybury. John & Jane had 6 children; lived in Biscotasing on 1891 Census, Cartier on 1901 Census, and moved to Sturgeon Falls in 1902. I lost their trail in 1920 after they buried son Ernest in the Sacre-Coeur RC Cemetery, Sturgeon Falls. Census records show John was a Sawyer who worked in Chapleau. Any information as to where they spent their final years would be appreciated.

Ancestor was supposedly killed around 1923. He was listed as a section foreman for the CNR in 1920. As he lived in the Sudbury district, I'm assuming he worked around that area.

Name was Ladyka.

Does anyone know who to contact for information??

I'm not really sure he did die. But that is how the family story goes.

My mum tells me that Shelley has been researching the Canadian side of our tree whereas i have been looking at the English side.
I have my mother's maternal side back to being a direct descendant of 5 members of the Mayflower trip, and would like to share this information with Shelley. I am also hoping that she can help me with the Canadian side as i have hit my 'brick wall' at Joseph James Evans (c1870). I have found the Canadian research difficult, probably due to being based in the UK.

I am trying to find out when John James Tongue died. It was prior to 1962 & after 1937. He married Mary Crawford - a native American - in Oct. of 1915. She died in 1919 & was buried I believe in St. Anne's Cemetery Mattawa. I was told Jack is buried beside his wife, Mary Crawford LeClair Tongue. It states Samuel worked for the rail road so now I am looking for any help in that direction. Did they keep employee records? I don't know what rail-line he would have worked for, but it was in North Bay.

I am wondering if anyone could help? I am told that my great-grandfather Salomon Taillon died in "desome" but is buried in Field, Ont. Has anyone heard of "desome"?(not sure of spelling) I beleive he was born in 1886 and the family beleives he died between 1924 to 1928. He was married to Blanche(florence Jeanne) Lalonde, and they had at least one of their 6 children in Cochrane, ont in 1913.

Wellington Co. now Dufferin Co. he seems to disappear for a time until he is mentioned in two of his brother's obits as being alive in 1935 (in one he is living in North Bay in the other it states his place of residence as Burke's Falls???).

Looking for the Presbyterian marriage records for Mattawa in 1890. I found a very puzzling marriage record in the Ontario Vital Records. this marriage was between a James Morrow and Jessie Morison. James parents are listed as Bruneau Morrow and Rose Shipman. All the evidence I have is that Bruneau was married to a Rose Lafleur! So I wish to see the origional in case it was a clerical error. It states on the Ont Vital record that they were both Presbytrian and that the minister was a Rev. Chauther. James my also have gone by Clement. and his last name was Moreau.
