GLENBURN Cemetery - Origin of Name

Classification: Query
Surnames: Johnston, Anderson, Derby, Wylie
Glenburn Cemetery is where many of my kin are buried. I've been curious for many years as to the origin of the name Glenburn. I suspected Scotland and searched old family areas there with no success. Then I posted a query on an Irish site - instant success! Glenburn is a small stream in a valley in Magherafelt, Co. Derry, NORTHERN IRELAND. Just north of Magherafelt is another familiar name that was borrowed and used in Prescott Co. - Curran.

Families that settled in Prescott Co. and that were from the Magherafelt area include: Anderson, Derby, Johnston, & Wylie.

Here is a link to a map that I've posted. It gives the location of the original Glenburn:

If anyone has anything more to add, let's hear it!
