Died, Mr. Elijah Monson, at his home near Shadynook last Friday afternoon at 6 o'clock of Bright's disease. Mr. Monson had been in a critical condition for everal days and the end had been expected at an hour for the last week. He was eighty-five years old last December. He was probably one of the best known men in this end of the county, and he also enjoyed a large acquaintance in Harrison county. He has been sick for more than a year with Bright's disease and about two months ago he took a change for the worse. At times he seemed to improve but they were of short duration. Mr. Monson has been a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church for many years. His whole aim seemed to do his Master's will and help others upward to higher attainments. He was a man that every one liked and his death is a source of great sorrow to the whole community. A short funeral service was held at the house Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Eld. J. R. Jones, of Cynthiana, officiating. Burial at Battle Grove cemetery. He leaves of an immediate family to mourn his death a widow and eight children, two sons and six daughters. His sons are I. N. Monson, of Cynthiana and J. L. Monson, of Shadynook, his daughters, Mrs. J. D. Evans, of Republican, Mrs. R. F. Scott and Mrs. Lafe Monson, of Colville, Mrs. E. F. Griffin, of Headquarters, and Miss Bessiie Monson who returned home some weeks ago from Birmingham, Alabama, where she has been teaching for two years.
