Hope you still have your Clay Co., Ala. Cemetery book.
Almost all my Hobbs kin are buried in the Pleasant Grove (#2?) Cemetery, some in Sardis Cem. and Concord, etc. which must be nearby.
What is the history on these cemeteries. Apparently,
Pleasant Grove Cem. was started in the late 1860's or early 1870's. WHERE WERE THE Hobbs BURIED BEFORE THIS CEMETERY WAS CREATED?
I have all these questions...
Who donated or owned the land before the church and cemetery was started???
Charles N (H) Hobbs, Sr. arrived in the area in the late 1830's,
Wm.H. Hobbs arrived before the 1850 Census. His 1st wife died about 1850 or 1851-2 era. She was buried somewhere..
His second wife died about 1850, where was she buried?
Charles had a 2nd son, Wm. Hobbs, a child of 3-5 yrs. old that was in the 1840 Census, and died just after 1840?
He is suppose to be buried in Pleasant Grove.
I have searched Talladega Co. Cemeteries and they do not have a lot of them on USGenweb Archives.
One daughter Rebecca married Shaddix and they were living
in Chinabee, she was buried in Pleasent Grove #2, where was her husband buried??
Solomon son, George Franklin Hobbs arrived about the 1850's... I think he is the man who brought small pox home from the Civil War, 2 or 3 of his children got smallpox and died. He and neighbors buried them near his house at the end of the Civil War?
Where can I find the history on the cemeteries?
