I am searching for information on Reuben/Rubin Tubb (b. abt 1824), husband of Permelia Jane [McLaughlin] Tubbs. The last information I have on him is the 1880 census for Perry County, AL in which he is listed (erroneously) as Rufus Tubbs with wife Amelia. He is "keeping a livery stable". This correlates with the information for the family of Reubin Tubbs in the 1870 census with wife Pamelia In this census Reubin also "keeping livery stable."
My research question is where and when Reuben died.
Pamelia was with her son George R. Tubbs in Milam County, Texas in the 1900 census. Permelia was with her daughter, Nancy Lavonia [Tubb] Hopkins who married William Williams Hopkins in Perry County on 10 January, 1860 in Nolan County County, Texas in the 1910 census.
Dr. Judy has recorded a tombstone inscription in the Tubb cemetery as
"Reuben Tubb, Born, Oct. 21, 1853 in Franklin County, Tennessee, Died in Birmingham, Ala. Aug. 20, 1881" This Reuben had to belong somehow to the Richard Tubb family since he is buried in that cemetery.
I have checked the 1820, 1830, 1840 and 1850 census for Franklin County, Tennessee and found no Tubbs there. I wonder if the Reuben Tubb of the tombstone inscription is Reuben Tubb, husband of Permelia.
Some researchers seem to think that Reuben Tubb is buried beside Permelia Tubb because there is an empty space next to her tombstone in a small bricked area in the Hopkins area of Sweetwater cemetery in Nolan County, Texas. However, my mother's cousin and my mother's sister were avid family historians and I have never found a mention of a burial of Reuben Tubb in Sweetwater in any family records.
I am the 3rd grt granddaughter of Permelia [McLaughlin} Tubbs who married first Jackson Tubb and second Reuben Tubb.
I would be grateful for any assistance on this question.
