I have a double tie to the BATES line. There is a wonderful book on the BATES that is on microfilm at the FHC. Also, you might be able to get it on inter library loan. The book is written by Vera Looney Blake, and is called, "The BATES Family History". There are many people still in Polk County tied to this name. The family is huge.

I have all of my BATES line located. I am trying to locate the date of death and place of burial for Sarah Ann VANDIVER GOODNER who was a BATES descendant. Her mother was Nancy BATES VANDIVER. Sarah was born @ 1830.

Nancy Jane Lyons Smith died Aug 1930 and is buried in Mena, AR. One of Bessie's brother's was Jess Coleman Smith, my grandfather, bn in 1882 in Grayson County, TX.
