I am looking for a Dora Mayes Story who was born in Mena Arkansas in 1910. She had a child in 1928, Bernadine Jones in Tulsa,OK. The father was Burnette Jones from Texas. He was born around 1908. She had another child Joann Marlar, in 1930. She married a Marlar, but do not know when. Joann died in 1936/37 from some bad medication from a hospital. There was a story in Life magazine. Dora Mayes Story died as Mayes Spencer in Palm Desert in 1979.

I believe that Dora Mayes Story is Maise Story, identified as the mother of Joan Marlar on the girl's OK death certificate. Joan died October 5, 1937, at the age of 6 years, of Elixir Sulfanilamide poisoning. In the contemporary press, her mother was identified as Mrs. Maise Nidiffer. Joan's father is listed on the death cert as "R. R. Marlar," born in Arkansas. I'm interested in contacting any living family members/descendents as part of a historical investigation.
