I am searching for information on the Eddlemans and the Bunchs in the Mena area. My grandmother was a Bunch and had a sister we called "Jo". When I was a little girl we visited her home in the country. My father is Talmon Newton Eddleman. His father was William Eddleman. Any information on the names listed would be a great help. My father has four dauthers, meaning we are the end of our family name. There were not any boys in the family to carry on the Eddleman name!

My name is Sherri Eddleman Aleshire. I live in Mena, Polk County, AR. My father is Clayton Ellsworth Eddleman. His father was Floyd Newton Eddleman. His father was Ira Ellsworth Eddleman. I believe that the names you listed above were some of Ira's brothers and sisters. Their father was Elbert Newton Eddleman. Ira's mother was Martha Caroline Owens. Elbert was married to Louisa Ellison before Martha Owens and their first son was William Alexander Bascom Eddleman. I'm just beginning to search for Eddlemans, but I believe this is correct. I will need to ask my grandmother (and others) for more information regarding the Bunch connection. I'm pretty sure that there is a connection. Please contact me for other information!

I know this post is 6.5 years old but I thought I'd chime in just in case she ever reads this board again.

I have an Ophelia Bunch who married William N Eddleman in Wickes (Polk), AR, she had a sister named Josephine. Ophelia is my great great GrandFather's sister. They had a child named Talmon born in 1927 (got that from census records).

They migrated to Jasper Co., Miss.
This is exactly what I have in my records:
6. Ophelia (May 7 1890) D. OCT 1973 Bay Springs, Jasper County, MS
m. William N Eddleman
6c1. Olivia Eddleman 1909
6c2. Virginia Eddleman 1912
6c3. Lilous? Eddleman 1915
6c4. Billy I Eddleman 1924
6c5. Talmon Eddleman 1927
6c6. Norris Eddleman 1928

That is the Correct Talmon. I have verified the details you have since Ophelia (MeMaw) is my great grandmother and I remember many family reunions at the house in Bay Springs MS. (Jasper County)
Ophelia's Daughter Virginia is my grandmother.
I haven't spoken to Marie (query originator) in several years.
Nice to virtually meet you OkieBunch!

wow, I'd love if you could share any information you have about Ophelia Bunch Eddleman. Your Great Grandmother Ophelia and my Great Grandfather Walter were brother and sister.

Or, if you know anything at all about our great great grandfather Joseph Bunch, I would absolutely LOVE to know.

Ophelia appears to be the only of Joseph's kids to have migrated back to Mississippi where Joseph was born.
I wonder, why Jasper Co.? or why Bay Springs? Do you have any idea? I figure maybe Bill Eddleman might have chose to go because I can't find a link between Joseph Bunch and Jasper County. I suppose it's all there in central MS anyways.

My guesses for our Joseph Bunch have been in Attala County (I think near Zama) or Leake County because of Census records. I think Joseph's father could very well be Solomon Bunch from Leake/Attala County, MS. I'd say I'm about 90% sure.

Whatever you have on those Bunches would be great.
Or if you don't have anything, it's still neat to hear from you.

Since we share a Great Great Granfather (Joseph Bunch), I think that makes us 3rd cousins.

if you'd rather send any info by email:

Hi, Marie. I am the son of Floyd Newton Eddleman and the grandson of Ira Elsworth Eddleman. I have just found out about William Alexander Bascom Eddleman and his family within the past couple of years. I have often wondered why Ira moved to Polk County Arkansas about 1900. Now, I presume that it is because he had a brother living here, W. A., and maybe another brother (at least he lived in Polk County for a few years), James Elbert Franklin Eddleman. My father died in 1974. Several years later, when I was goin through some of his old papers I found a copy of a letter he'd written to Lilous (in response to one she'd written him, which I still have). She was requesting information about W. A. and his family. I also have the letter, or probably a copy of it, that he wrote to her. Didn't realize who Lilous was until recently. I've dug up quite a bit of information about W. A. and his family, which I'm willing to share. But there's still a lot I don't know. Is Talmon a brother to Lilous? William Alexander had a son named William N.(what does that stand for? my dad and his brother Roy Clayton always called him "Billy"), and he had a son named Billy I.? Is that correct?

Marie, William Alexander's father's name was not Elbert Ellsworth but Elbert Newton. The Francis who was William's brother was not Marion Francis but Charles Francis. If I can be of further help, let me know.
