BLM records show Tolman GANN, public land patentee, 160 acres, issued 10 Sep 1880, Calaveras Co., Calif. Tolman Thomas GANN, b 1842 in Missouri, m 27 Sep 1867 in San Joaquin Co., Calif., to Delilah Jane STRADER, b bef 1848, Coles Co., Ill. Tolman's parents were cousins Thomas GANN, b 1817 in Tennessee, d in California, and Roseanna GANN, b 1819 in Tennesse, d probably in California, m 1839 in Lafayette Co., Mo. Delilah's parents were Rawleigh/Rolly STRADER, b 1809 in Kentucky, d 1865 in Coles Co., Ill., and Sarah H. "Sally" STEWART, b 1811 in Barren Co., Ky., d 1863 in Coles Co., Ill., m 1831 in Coles Co., Ill. I'm seeking death dates and locations of Tolman and Delilah and would like to exchange information with their descendants. Delilah STRADER was a sister to my g-g-grandfather, Lemuel Jackson STRADER, b 1848 in Coles Co., d 1929 in Vernon Co., Mo., m 1868 in Coles Co., to Mary Margaret HALLETT, b 1846 in Coles Co., d 1938 in Vernon Co. The Straders and Ganns may have first met in Bates or Vernon Co., Mo., where Rolly STRADER bought public land in 1857-58-59 before returning to Illinois. Some members of the Coles Co., Ill., Strader family are believed to have first come to California's Gold Rush country in 1849-50, followed by a second group in 1865. There is a STRADER Avenue in Sacramento, Calif., and once were, I believe, STRADER streets in Stockton and San Francisco. I'm also interested in sharing information with STRADER descendants. -- Please contact me directly if possible: Len Klempnauer, Capitola, Santa Cruz Co., Calif., email: LaRaKa3936@aol.com.
