Classification: Query
Surnames: GYDESON, GYDISON, GYDESIN, PEDERSON
In connection with a thesis on Norwegian-American female physicians, I have to check out every student with a name that sounds even remotely Norwegian.
I am hoping that someone might be able to establish the origin of one MAY or MARY C. E. GYDISON/GYDESON/GYDESIN for me. She might have been born in Salina(s?), Monterey County, or at least did she live there at one point. She graduated from the (Northwestern University) Woman's Medical College in 1884, and would at this time be at least 21 years of age. She lived and worked in Nebraska for a while after her graduation. She might have lived in Salina too after her graduation. Sometime before 1896 she married a man by the name of PEDERSON, and moved to Norway.
Any info is highly appreciated!
