Surnames: Butt, Giffen, Gould, Lewison, Harris
My great-grandfather L. D. Butt mined with Charles Giffen in Meadow Lake near Truckee. Is Charles related to your George Washington Giffen? I have a series of newspaper articles about their mining adventures with James Gould, J. L. Lewison and S. Harris. I also have copies of many of their mining claims.
