Earle W Orr was my father's uncle and I've found limited information about him. He as born 18 June 1891 in Calif. and I believe died in 1975. He was married to Eula and adopted a son Harold who was born about 1916. I can't find a maiden name for Eula and would eventually like to find out if son Harold ever had any children. I received an obit for James Lemons, it does not state dob just that he was 66 yrs old born in TN died at St Edwards hosp in Fort Smith AR 7-8-1924 after injuries from being kicked by a horse, body sent back to Cowlington, OK where he worked as a tenant farmer on the Overstreet Farms, leaving wife, Lula, and 4 daughters and 2 sons, Father's name Dave, mother unknown. Does anyone have anyone in their tree by that name? He was much older than Lula (Louella Fraley)about 30 yrs and married before according to the 1910 census. Question another family out there? One of the Branches on my tree lived in California and died there in late 1980's. Olga Amelia Shaw bn 29 Sept 1903 Simcoe Co Ont Canada, emigrated with siblings and her mother Harriet [Garrod] Shaw in 1909, to join father Donald Shaw and older brother Angus in Superior Wisconsin. Married about 1925 to Harold Lebray and lived in California. Both Harold and Olga died in California in the late 1980's. Not known if there were any children. If anyone should come across this family, I would certainly appreciate an obituary or other details.

I am helping my cousins in finding information on their brother. The name is William Palin. He was born 6 April 1910 in Minnesota. At some point he moved to Michigan as that is where he obtained his SSN. He then moved to California and enlisted in the army in 1942. From there I next find his death record at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland Oregon. Date of death is 18 May 1992. His last address was West Linn, Clackamas, Oregon as shown on SSN death index. I have not been able to find an obituary on him. We don't know if he ever married or has any descendants. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I am trying to help Ann locate her dad, PAUL
ELGIN FERGUSON and HALF BROTHER who was adopted out.
Her dad disappeared on Thanksgiving Day, 1958, from
Creve
Coeur, Illinois.
Ann believes that her father changed at least part of
his name because Social Security has had no info on
him
since a few months BEFORE he disappeared. She believes
he applied for a new social security number
and changed at least part of his name.

She knows that he bought a car in the name of P.E.
Ferguson a few days before he disappeared. His name
was PAUL ELGIN FERGUSON, so he might have changed it
to something like Paul Eugene or Peter Elgin..that way
he could keep the same initials..and then he probably
changed his birthday by a few days.

MINNIE ANN PHIPPS disappeared with him and is the
mother to her half brother, but no relation to Ann.
Her dad was born in Trenton, Grundy Co., MO. on April
9, 1924(they lived in Creve Coeur, IL., at the time he
disappeared with Minnie Ann PHIPPS. She changed her
name to ANN PHIPPS CARCUFFE in 1984. A few months ago
she learned that she died of a heart attack in 2003 in
Paris, TX).

Ann knows that her dad and Minnie Ann went to Alameda Countynty, CA when they left Illinois, as she filed for
her SS card in 1959 in California and the record she
has says "FERGUSON BABY/PHIPPS, mother, live birth,
June 9, 1959, Alameda Co., Ca" is also in California.
The state of California Dept. of Social Services says
that have no record of an adoption.

I don't know if this helps, but thought I should add
some of dad, Pauls' genealogy, just to ring a bell.
His father's name was Roy ELGIN FERGUSON and his
mother was Pauline Thompson Woods FERGUSON, both of
Trenton, MO.. His grandparents were William Thomas
Ferguson, born in Kingston, Ontario and Phoebe Rachel
McCoy, born near Laclede, MO.

If some one has any way of locating her dad, are
finding out the name/location of her brother, please
email her directly or post here, and I will forward it
to her, she has been searching over half her life
trying to find them, and thinks maybe her dad is
deceased, surely by now he would have at least
contacted someone in the family, but would like to
know for sure, and would love to find her half

UPDATE_ someone sent this below, however we still have not got any closer to answers, as the state of CA still hasn't sent paperwork that Ann requested:

Doing a search by date of the California Birth Index, I discovered (3) births in Alameda County on that date with the mother's maiden name listed at PHIPPS--quite a coincidence. All of them list only one name, which is unusual. Most have an entire name listed.

I was wondering if anyone with access to California sources or newspapers can find a specific Obit for me. The person I am looking for is one Stanley/Stanly Sudol. He would be my great uncle. In my Great Grandmothers obituary it simply says "Survived by a brother Stanley Sudol, California"

I found a Stanley Sudol on the Social Security Death Index for Los Angeles. Born May 6 1915 Died June 25 1991. If there is anything listed in his obituary about other family, I would love to learn about them.

This is a picture of my great-aunt and her second husband - Paul & Florence (Butler) Singler. The writing on the building is German and says "Deutsches Haus," and the flag appears to be displaying a swastika. But the location looks to be California. (They were married, lived and divorced in California). Might anyone know where they are and what type of building this is? So far Internet searches have provided no information. I am trying to find some information about my grandfather's first wife. Her birth name was Marguerite Frances Lewis and she was born I think..... in August of 1923 and lived in Bell? Cordova? Anaheim? California.... I don't know if she is still alive but after marrying my granfather who was John Joseph Spicer around 1940, she married later on to a man with the last name Young, so I am assuming that if she is still alive or didn't re marry after that then she is still listed somewhere as Marguerite Frances Lewis Young. I haven't used this site enough to know how and where to find everything, but I was wondering if anyone could help me with perhaps where I could find a birth ceritifcate or death certificate or at least the date of her birth and if she is passed that date also.... I was wondering, if anyone has any information on any martinellis. All of my family lives in california. I know that we might be distantly related to the first people who made apple cider in the 1800's(martinelli apple cider.) I have a grandpa who died on the nove 11, 1987 and was born on march 22 1902. My grandma who resides in california still madien name was gouldagger, which is now formally martinelli. she is about 90 something and in really good health.
my grandpas name was elmer waldo martinelli.

My Grandmother divorced my Grandfather, Freeman Cleveland Bower, about 1920-1925 probably in Idaho. She moved to Grimes, Colusa County, CA about 1925 with her youngest daughter, Dorothy Ann Bower, where she worked as a cook for ranch hands.
My Step-Grandfather, James K Dobson, was married to my Grandmother's sister, Nellie Belle (Relyea) Dobson, and in 1920 they lived in Vallejo, Solano County, CA where he was employed as a butcher at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo. In 1925 they were living in Dixon, Solano County, CA. Nellie Belle Dobson was killed on 24 January 1928 in an auto-bus traffic accident near Woodland, Yolo County, CA.
From the above facts and timelines, James K Dobson and
Veda Rose Bower married between February 1928 and 4 April 1930 when they were shown living together with their children in the 1930 census in West New Plymouth Village, Payette County, Idaho. Both are now buried in Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth, Payette County, Idaho.

I am looking for information about any US naturalization records for my late Great Uncle and his wife and her family. James Herbert Keeffe born Sydney NSW Australia 12 July 1884 and his wife Christina Lunge born Sydney 1891, and her mother Julia and Christina's sister Violet.

James was a merchant seaman for most of his life, from age 17, and when on shore he lived with his wife, her mother and sister and his children in San Francisco. I have the US census records, and I have his alien registration during WW1. I do not have any details about his or his wife's his in-laws US Citizenship.

Looking for house and any history

I have been told by two people in SF, that there is a Historical Dosher/Dozier house, for touring. Yet I can not locate it, can anyone help.

Also, Richard Doshier/Dozier came to CA as a 49er, 1849, and may have died in Fresno, we know nothing else. He left behind more than 30 children and a long list of family in the south. It would be great to find out what became of him and where he is buried, please help if you have any info, thanks, larry.

My grandmother Estelle Ostby's biological dad was Earl G Ostby, born about 1907 in Iowa. He lived with his wife Lucille and Estelle in Minnesota. Lucille died in 1927 and Earl took off for California shortly thereafter - family lore says he died there in the '30s from drowning. (My grandmother was raised by her aunt and uncle.)

I can't find any info on Earl Ostby's death. I'm wondering if anyone has any leads on how I can find what happened to him with a minimum of expense. I found voting records that show him in Los Angeles in 1930, but nothing thereafter. What can I do to find him?

I am trying to search for Louis Greco, born abt. 1874, in Sicily. He was in New Orleans, and was apart of the Sicilian immigrants of the early 1900's in Louisiana. He had a daughter Josephine born in 1911, from the Cal. death index. He had a wife Frances M Greco, born abt 1887 in Sicily. That I kind of know. He had other children by the names of Dominic, Joseph, Michael,Maragrita,and Lena. I was told that Josephine Greco married a Armando Vasallo in San Franciso in the 1930's. I am looking for relatives to Helen and Berger Enge. Berger is cousin to my mother. In 1930 Census they lives in Rhame, Bowman, North Dakota with his father Peter Enge and mother Josephine. Josephine (maiden name Helmersen) emigrated from Norway in 1901 and Peter in 1902. Josephine past in 1957.
Berger had one brother, Clarens who lived in Ohio and past in 1998. The family to Clarence have not much information about Bergers family. But there is an information that Berger get one or two daughter who lives in California and Missouri (St. Louis). I got a photo of a babygirl who is born in oct. 13, 1931 with name Ida (or Vda) Mae Enge. I belive this a daughter of Berger.

If someone can help to find out, I'll be greatefull.

I'm trying to locate the marriage of Edward Wilcox to Georgia ..............?.

Edward Wilcox b.1890 (in Australia), lived in California from about 1910, including the 1920 Census, however, the 1930 Census has him living in Oregon, with wife Georgia b.abt 1903 CA, indicating being married about 1928. Records after that Census have him living back in CA until his death in 1962. His obituary indicates no surviving relatives.

I would like to find his marriage to Georgia, and then find out what ever happened to her, or if there were any children?

Maybe he was married in Oregon, but I thought I would try the Californian Board first.

Looking for info on Mary Frances Mitchell born IL abt. 1912-1913. I believe she married Oris McGavin & had 2 daughters, Nancy(Morgan) & Cheri. After divorsing McGavin she married Eugene Raymond Hart, then divoced him.
I believe she may have married a 3rd time but, have no idea to whom as I can not find her on CA Death list.

Seeking to find marriage of one Jennie Mae Dixon or Jennie Mae Villet in CA - best guess near Sacremento - she was adopted my Mr and Mrs Charles Dixon in Bishop upon death of her mother, born abt 1911 - her sister alice taken to canada to live - when Mrs Dixon dies Jennie moves to Sacremento to live with her dad and his new wife Florinda Dias.

Born to Katie Mae Shaw and Edgar Villett abt 1911 in Bishop.

She is our family mystery, no one can find her.

Family members seeking any information (exact dates, places, names, etc.) regarding the various marriages of Amanda Marie (Bankus) Meyers Harris Miller. Amanda Marie Bankus was usually known as Marie. Marie was born 12 November 1904 in Missouri, raised in New Plymouth, Payette County, Idaho, and came to California about 1920. She was known to be living in Baker City, CA in March 1921 with her 1st husband, George Thomas Meyers (or Meyer). She apparently married her 2nd husband, unknown Harris, in California and had at least 3 children: Ed, Jackie (F), and Junie, birthdates unknown. She then married her 3rd husband, John Tracy Miller, about 1933 apparently in CA and had 2 more children: Jerry Allen Tracy Miller, born 28 Oct 1933, and Wardell Miller, born 14 December 1937; both born in Nevada County, CA. Jerry was born in North Bloomfield, CA and died on 3 May 2007 in Grass Valley, CA. Marie died 5 January 1980 somewhere in Placer County, CA. Note: It is not known whether the female child named Junie is a Harris or a Miller.

1921 - (March 14, 1921) The Idaho Daily Statesman, Boise, Ada County, Idaho (including news from New Plymouth, Idaho) mentions a Mrs. George T. Meyer of Baker City, California visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Bankus. This is Amanda Marie Bankus Meyers who was 16 years, 4 months old at the time of her visit home.

I am looking for any information on Harrison Davis. I have a biography of his brother George in Wisconsin that says Harrison lived/died in California circa 1900. I've lost him in 1850 where he was still single. I know he was born in Loudoun Co Virginia, moved with parents to Knox Co Ohio in 1835. He must of been the youngest child though I'm not positve, siblings include William, Rosanna, Thomas, Fielding, George, James, Emily, Would like to find any information on him, but esp. when/where he died. I'm looking for any information on the descendants of William Carter & Janet Grant. They were born in Scotland and had children; Alexander(1879 Scotland-1947 CA, USA); Margaret (married name Defty) (1883 Italy-1959 CA, USA);
Janet (1887 ?USA); William (1889 ?USA) & David (1892 ?USA).
Janet Grant was my 2nd great grandmother and she died after 1930 in California. According to the Censuses from 1910-1930 the family were living in Los Angeles. Janet Grant's brother Alexander Grant also lived with the family.

A stab in the dark...
These ladies were daughters of Francis M. Carter and Mary nee unknown. Alice born Iowa about 1876, and Pearl probably born Idaho before 1900.
Both were in Idaho at death of father in 1917, but in Los Angeles at death of brother in 1942.

Have not found Pearl in any censuses up to 1920, or birth or marriage.

Alice is in Colorado 1880 with parents, and in Idaho 1900, 1910, & 1920 censuses with husband James E. Moore, and had son Raymond M. Moore b. 1905-06 in Idaho.

Family member seeking the birthdates of 2 sisters believed born in California, probably Plumas County. Father was John Addison Bankus and mother was Mabel (Relyea) Bankus. Daughters were Etta and Berniece Bankus probably born about 1920-1922 since they do not show up on the 1920 Census. Most of their older siblings born in New Plymouth, Idaho. Etta Bankus married a Richards in California and was known to be living in Grass Valley, Nevada County, CA on 5 August 1975 upon her father's death. Berniece Bankus married a Moffett in California and was living in Lincoln, Placer County, CA at the same time in 1975. Following censuses:
1920 Census (3 Jan 1920), New Plymouth, Payette County, Idaho:
John (38), Mabel, Marie, Margaret, Lloyd, Alice & Leroy Bankus.

1930 Census (19 April 1930), Indian Township, SE of Greenville, Plumas County, California:
John A. Bankus (48), Head
Lloyd (20), Son
Perhaps John Addison Bankus married again after his wife passed away on 12 June 1929 in Napa County, CA, however, his obituary does not mention a wife.

I'm looking for the 1930 Fed Census for Otto Clay Santhoff. He used several different variations of the name: Clay Santoff, Otto Santoff throughout his life. I have been unable to find him that year's Federal census. In 1920 at age 17 he was living in Pasadena. I determined through his soc sec appl(using the name of Otto Santoff) that he was living in Alameda, Calif in 1936. I'm hoping a pair of fresh eyes will be able to find him in the 1930 Fed Census. thank you for any assistance.

Mary Frances Mitchell was born in IL abt. 1913 to parents Harry Mitchell & Mary T. Collins. They migrated to Santa Rosa,CA sometime bet.1920-30.
Occording to her mother's obit. 1962 June, she was survived by a daughter Mrs. Frances Hart of Berkeley, CA.
I have a photo taken 1940's IL of a family visit home. On back is written Mary, Francis & Naomi. I'm assuming that Naomi, who looks to be age 7 was the daughter of Mary Frances Mitchell-Hart.
If any of this sounds familier to anyone, please get in touch. Mary Frances was my father's cousin.

I have ben trying to track down an ancestor of my wife's ---her maiden name was Doreen Jean Matthews --born Jan. 2, 1949 in San Francisco Country. Her mother's maiden name was Andrews. Her Dad, Edward William Matthews died in Novato, California. No one has been able to track down Doreen's marriage but in 2006 someone found a listing in the Novato phone book for a John E. Putnam. I tried to look that name up in the free white pages but I cannot come up with a listing in Novato now.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions --they would be much appreciated!
