My understanding is that John W. Harrison was killed in the Civil War on September 16, 1862 at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia) after serving for approximately one month. Have you ever written to the Federal Archives to see if his widow applied for a pension? I believe his wife’s name was Maria (last name unknown to me).
A friend of mine is searching for information on this John W. Harrison too.
