Hello My name is Cheryl Chick Clark. My Grandfather Morton Chick family owned the land in the area. He was the town commisioner in the 1940's and had the court house built. About the streets, he also named some of them after his children, Jon st is named after my father. I was just in Metropolis last month doing research. I have quite alot done on the chick side and lots of photos, I'll share. Cheryl

Cheryl,
I would like to know which Chicks you are related to. My great-grandmother's brother was Thomas Chick who owned the Chick House Hotel in Rockford, Ill. He died in 1918.
The family was originally fron Devon, England, but moved to Canada around 1850, and several of the brothers moved on to Illinois a few years later. My Great-grandmother Elizabeth Chick married and stayed in the area around London, Ontario.
Does any on this relate to your family?

Diane B.
