Rodef Sholem Cemetery was begun in 1854. Three Moyses are buried in the cemetery dedicated to the Jewish population that once lived in Wabash and surrounding areas. It is one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in the state of Indiana. Cemetery records that exist indicate three Moyses are buried. They are
BEN 1863-1916
BENJAMIN 1822-19?2
GERTRUDE 1858-1859
No obit for Gertrude. Not enough data to locate obit for Ben and Benjamin. If you have exact date of death or close to it can search local obits. Scant information on this family records indicate Moyses settled around 1856 and ran a grocery store for some time. Booklet on early Jews in Wabash called the Wabash Jewish Experience presented to the Indiana Jewish Historical Society is available from Reading Rooms Books 264 S. Wabash St., Wabash, In 46992. However, Moyses not included. No synagogue records include them, no marriage records either. Suggest you contact the Ind Jewish Hist. Society.
