Nathan J. BROWN, who lived in Van Buren Twp, Wayne Co., MI, died Nov 16, 1860, Mt. Washington, KY (according to his tombstone). As far as I know he had no family there, but was on a "journey for his health". He was born Dec 1, 1801, RI, lived in Otsego Co., NY, before going to MI in 1835. His wife was Lydia BUTTS, and 2 of his children were Leicester (Lester) Rose BROWN and Helena BROWN ROUNDS. Another son, or nephew, may have been Perrin R. BROWN. I'm interested in contact with any descendants or anyone who knows of this name or whom he might have been visiting in the area.

Since I posted the BROWN query, this family has been found on the 1860 Bullitt Co., KY census. Besides L. R. (Leicester Rose), N. J. (Nathan J.), Lydia, and H. M. (Helena M.), other BROWNs in the household are R. H. (F age 30), H. (F age 24), E. F. (F age 18), and L. M. (F age 14). All are listed as teachers, except for N. J., Lydia, and L.M. Could they have had a private school?
