Hi Karen,
My name is Christine, and the Member Connect Activity on my ancestry.com homepage showed me that you added a record (Social Security Death Index)to Edward Maier. I can only assume its telling me this because I added the same record to my family tree, so it seems that we share a family tree. I'm not sure which Edward its for, as the family trees seem to be down at the moment for maintenance. In my family tree there are three Edward Maiers, a father, son, and grandson(that I'm aware of). The most senior Edward Maier (born in 1878)married my great great aunt Edythe Poole. I'd love to share information with you. My email is pesh527@hotmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

Christine

I just now see your post for Carlisle county. I am planning a trip to KY in a couple of months and am wondering if you can help me with information regarding the Blackburn family cemetery. I think it may be on what was the Blackburn farm. I would appreciate any info you can help me with.
I am trying to locate living descendents of Martha Henrietta Blackburn Thomason. She was daughter of Sarah E. Johnson and Alfred Blackburn. Born about 1880, married Amos Thomason abou 1900 and died in 1938. Lived all her life in Carlisle County, KY .

The Heath line I'm referring to, started with Ryland Heath, in KY. He married Anna M Gilbert in 1808 in Greene County, GA. They were living in Livingston County sometime after the war of 1812.

Their Children;

William D Heath, born 1809 in GA, died in Ballard Co., KY
(my line) he married Eliza Husbands, daughter of Harmon Husbands and Sarah Renshaw.

Ira Heath, born in 1810, Green Co., GA

BMG Heath, aka Sam, born in 1812, Green Co., GA, He married Narcissa Williams.

Robert Heath, born 1815, Livingston Co., KY, married Arcadia Baker

Harrison Heath, born 1817, Livingston Co., KY, married Mariah Berry Hughes. Lived in TN

John Heath, born abt 1823, Livingston Co, KY

Enoch Heath, MD, born in 1832, Livingston Co, KY, married Anna Hughes, lived in Gleason, TN

Daughters;

Emily Melissa Heath, married William Newcom

Nancy Heath, born abt 1821, Livingston Co., KY. Married A B Rankin.

I know I'm forgetting someone.

My Daughter was recently diagnosed with Hereditary Neuropathy. There are varying degrees of the disease, and varying sub or phenotypes, ranging from no symptoms, to severe.

The symptoms are, starts, usually in the hands and feet, with numbness, tingling and sometimes severe pain, depending on which subtype. the pins and needles progress slowly, usually, in my case, the progression has been upward from my feet, now consumes my whole body with constant tingling. I don't have pain, and mine is mostly sensory. My Mother, daughter of William Jackson Heath, born in Graves Co., KY in Sept 1887, died in 1991, her's was severe, sensory and motor, also affecting her breathing. My Daughter, 44 yrs is closer to what my Mom had.

It also has a hold on one Aunt, my Brother, my Niece, my Son. My Mom was the first known case in our family.

The variation in onset is from infants, first decade to 8th decade. Research is on going, knowing the cause and gene of some of the subtypes.

Awareness and educating yourself are key. There isn't any treatment yet, except treating the symptoms. I have 5 Granddaughters, ranging in age from 23 down to 14, all need to be checked.

Jolene

Bringing my request up to date. I am looking for the marriage date of my grandparents, Henry B. Humphrey (could be listed as Bert) and Cora Lee Anderson. They are from Ballard Co., KY and their first child, my mother, was born there in 1912. There is no record of their marriage in Ballard Co., therefore they must have gone elsewhere to marry. If there is anyone that can check records for Carlisle Co. KY , the year span 1912 to 1916 I would be most appreciative. Thank you

Thank you for your reply. I am searching for information about my GGF Allen Sams and his wife Minnie Wright. He died in 1900 and she died in 1898 or 1899. They lived in Bardwell, Carlisle Co., Ky at the time of their death, but I have not been able to find any recorded verification. They were married in Obion TN on 1 Dec 1883. I did find a marriage certificate. I was hoping maybe I could learn the name of the physician who attended them, and that would maybe give me a lead. I have run into a blank wall, due to courthouse fires destroying vital records. Just grasping at straws. Thank you again.

Debra

Hello,

The State of Kentucky did not require the counties to record births by law until 1911. However, there were a couple of tries to record births state wide before this time, but these records are sketchy and not complete by any stretch.

There is a data base of these early birth records on Ancestry.com called Kentucky Birth Records 1852-1910 and I searched for these people and they were not listed.

Melissa Barker
Genealogist for Tennessee and Kentucky
E-mail: kaitysmom@peoplestel.net

Do you know anything more about her?

I may have a photo of Will Martin. A book I have has a photo, taken about 1900 in Carlisle, of a man named Will Martin. I don't think there was more than one Will Martin in Carlisle in 1900.

This same book has several photos of Horn family members.

I could send you copies of these photos but need YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

No, I have always lived in CA. My maternal grandfather's family was from Ballard/Carlisle.

I also had a great grandfather that no one "talked" about. My own father and uncle knew nothing about their grandfather until I did research. Turns out he was an outstanding man but was the victim of a bitter divorce.

Kathleen, I cried with tears of joy when I read your post. THANK YOU!! Ed Martin was my Grandfather that died well before I was born. My Grandmother or Dad never spoke of him. Painful memories, maybe. I knew he was a mason from the symbol on his grave but also have a "undertaker convention" group picture taken in 1929 & a tablet of blank death certs. He was the undertaker listed on his brother in law's death cert.I have Ed's death cert. I recognize my Dad's handwriting on it & didn't know what El would be short for. Thank you so much for taking the time to look this up. Are you originally from that area?

Its companies were raised in the counties of Lowndes, Dallas, De Kalb, Shelby, Wilcox, Bibb, Randolph, and Calhoun. Assigned to General A.R. Wright's Brigade the unit was greatly reduced because of camp diseases before its first action at Second Manassas. After fighting at Sharpsburg it was placed under the command of General Law and fought with the Army of Northern Virginia from Fredericksburg to Cold Harbor, except when it was with Longstreet at Suffolk, Chickamauga, and Knoxville. The 44th was active in the long Petersburg siege north of the James River, then participated in the Appomattox Campaign assigned to W.F. Perry's command. The regiment lost twenty-two percent of the 130 at Second Manassas, seventy percent of the 113 at Sharpsburg, and twenty-six of the 363 at Gettysburg. It reported 27 killed and 112 wounded at The Wilderness and during the Petersburg siege, June 13-December 31, there were 17 killed and 44 wounded. The unit surrendered with 17 officers and 192 men. Its commanders were Colonels Charles A. Derby, James Kent, and William F. Perry; Lieutenant Colonel J.A. Jones; and Major George W. Cary.

Hope the above helps.
Kathleen Hill, Redondo Beach, CA
Hi,

I saw your post of several years ago on Oscar Bridgman. He is in my Bridgman family. Joshua Bridgman was my ggggrandfather, Willis, my gggrandfather was a brother to Oscar. My ggrandfather was Alexander Campbell (A.C. Bridgman) Lois Webber and I kept in touch. She has since passed away. Laura Davis from Bardwell had info on all the Bridgman's and she has since passed away. I plan on going to see her her husband when I get back to KY. I live in St. Louis but was from Clinton, KY

Carol Taffenhart

caroltaffenhart@att.net

In 1880 I found Samuel as a bachelor living in Blandville, Ballard, Kentucky working as a farmer. I have not found any death certificates.
