Mitchell, you are absolutely right, Peter Storms married Sarah Hines (Hynes). John Wesley Storms is one of their sons and he married Eleanor Byrum on 28 Nov 1852 in Decatur Co, IN. Do you have any info on the parents of Sarah Hynes?

Jerry Saylor

Jerry, I find a transcribed marriage in Garrard Co. for a Peter Storms to Sally Hynes on bond date 7 Jun. 1817 and Return date of 12 Jun. 1817.
Coonrad (Conrad?) Stormes as bondsman. Might Peter be a nick name for John Wesley Storms, If not, a serious transcription error?
I see you are researching the Hines family. I am looking for the parents and other family members of Sarah Hines born about 1798 to 1802 who married John Wesley Storms 7 Jun 1817 in Garrard Co, KY. Do you have a connection with or knowledge of Sarah?

Jerry Saylor

Don't know about Albert, but my John Long came from Ireland sometime before the Rev. War. I don't know who his other children where other than Martha b. about 1730 in County Down Ireland. There is info abut John in DAR records, but don't know the other son or daughters. They came through Augusta Co. which was later part of Rockingham.co. Va. into n. Ky. By late 1700's. You might be able to find info Chalkley's Chronicles which took place in Va.
I have a John Long Jr.(171801787) who was a miller at Mt. bethel, Northampton Co. Pa who m. Maria Barbara Labar. He was the son of John Long 168801776 and his wife Anna Maria unk. In Bucks Co. Pa. Jr. maybe the brother of Martha-this is where the Dunn family was alsoand then into Va. John j.r wasa a Capt. In the 3d Co 5th Bn. 1780-86 from Mt. Bethel.

If I recall correctly, my James Dunn and John Long were life-long friends and were buried near one another.
Could be your Albert is one of John's sons or grandsons. My Dunn line does have an Albert in there, too. And they were in Gallatin Co. for a time and also Carroll Co. and Trimble Co. and Henry Co. Ky. And some went over the river into Indiana, also.
I don't know much else about the Longs but maybe this will help you. Roslyn

If you are talking about the John Long who was grandfather to Albert Marion Long, I have no idea from where he came. however, he was married to Winefred Tudor, dau. of John Tudor, Jr. and Elizabeth (possibly White) from Granville Co., NC, and was born abt. 1769 and died between 1811-1820 in Madison Co., KY.

I wonder if this Abner is the Absolem/Abner Davidson of Prince Edward VA. The latter disappears from PE by 1820. He only reports 1 son in the 1810 census, but it would not be surprising if Jesse's age was reported wrong.

Abner Davidson married Peggy Blanton about 21 Dec 1803.

There was an Abner Davidson in the 1820 census of Northumberland VA. However, it is near Chesapeake Bay, an unlikely migration from PE.

According to my grandmother's notes, my great-great-grandfather Charles Rice married one Elizabeth Rice (no kin) and settled in Ralls County, MO, and had nine children (1 duaghter, 8 sons), at least one of whom ended up in California. Elizabeth died in late 1850 or early 1851. Charles Rice then married Susan Modeset by whom he had an additional 2 children. I have found Charles in the census records indicating birth in Kentucky so I am particularly interested in your post.

I am interested in knowing the source of the article to which you refer that mentions them or in obtaining a copy.

Thanks,
PT

Seeking information for Elizabeth Bowman Martin for years between death of her husband, George W Martin in 1905 and her listed death of 1914. Elizabeth’s death year is taken from gravestone in the Woods-Green Cemetery at Cartersville. At least two of her daughters lived in this area during this period, though one, Lucretia (Lou) Martin Montgomery Aldridge died in 1909 and is also buried in the Woods-Green Cemetery. Elizabeth was my Great Grandmother; she and George W Martin had six children:
1.	Fannie, 1861-1947 married (1) Henderson Green; and (2) John T Clark.
2.	George Robert, 1863-1948 married Martha V Newland.
3.	Lucretia (Lou), 1867-1909 married (1) DR W C Montgomery; and (2) Richard Aldridge.
4.	Ida, 1870-1956 married Albert Napier.
5.	Katherine, 1873-died before 1900.
6.	Emma, 1878- was in 1900 Garrard Census, may have died shortly afterwards.

I will appreciate any information.
Gene Martin
I am more interested in Thomas's father and mother, I thought maybe they might be buried there as well. But as you may know most of the markers aren't readable.

My dad's aunt is buried there as well, Francis Adams.

My ancestor, James Ward whose wife was Nancy J. Short, is in Garrard Co. in 1850. They moved to Indiana about 1855.
In 1850 there was a child, Alexander Gibbs 4 mo. in their household.

I suspect there is a very close connection between these families.

Hopefully someone will read this that can enlighten me.

Both James and Nancy appear to have been born in KY. They had four children born in KY: Jordan, Alexander, Elizabeth and Emily. Then they moved to Indiana and had Mary, Sarah and Tabitha.

Nancy died in Morgan Co., IN. No further trace has been found of James. Jordan served in the Civil War but no further trace has been found. Alexander settled in Cedar Co., MO and raised a family. Most of his siblings also ended up in Cedar Co.

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this family.

Connie

I am researching this Julia Middleton. I received information that her parents were Willis and Luvina Middleton of Pendleton Co., but the Julia Middleton listed as their daughter married a Stoab and they had children during the same period of time as Julia Middleton and Thomas Hasty. Julia Middleton and Joe (Joseph) Thomas Hasty were married in 1888. They are shown on the 1900 Census in Garrard Co. as Thomas and Julie Harty of east Bryantsville. They had two children Rosa 8 yoa (my Grandmother) and T. William 4 yoa. Also a Scottie Hendry was living with them. Other records show another child James Hasty and he would have been 11 yoa in 1900, but my grandmother never mentioned another sibling. I would like any information on the Julia Middleton married to Thomas Hasty. Thomas Hasty and Julia Middleton also appear on my grandmother's death certificate as her parents.

I believe Archibald was bured in Macon Co Illinois. Town of Decatur. May be Salem cemetery. He has another brother also buried in Decatur Il (John?). They were a large family in Macon Co. And they came from Garrard Co Ky. He was my 3rd G Grandfather's brother. My 3rd was Robert Moore Nicholson who left Garrard Co Ky for Lawrence Co Alabama with another brother William Nicholson. Another brother Arthur went to Clay Co Mo and had a grandson (William A Nicholson) who married Jesse James' 1/2 sister. All sons of William Nicholson and Penelope Moore. Penelope's sister Elizabeth Moore married Lindzey Hargrove. Lindzey was a justice of the peace or a sheriff of Lawrence Co Alabama, as he performed the wedding of Robert M Nicholson and Jane Landers in 1825. My 3rd Great grandparents. Brother William Nicholson married Cynthia Hargrove.

The Denny Graveyard is a very small cemetery located within stone walls immediately beside HWY. 169 (Tates Creek Road). When proceeding from Richmond to Valley View, the cemetery is on the left about 1/4 of a mile past a small community called Stringtown and about 1 1/2 miles from Valley View.

John Farlee/Farley b. 1848 Garrard Co KY, to Putnam Co IN & Champaign Co IL

Seeking father's name and date of death for John Farlee, born Feb 1848 in Garrard Co., Kentucky, son of Martha A. Huffman and a first husband Farley/Farlee who died before 1850. Martha was the daughter of Jack Huffman and his wife Jane/Jennie.

Martha married second James Riley Brown about 1858, presumably in Garrard Co., where they had a daughter Osee E. Brown b. about Oct 1859. They moved to Putnam Co., Indiana about 1861.

I could not find records of either of Martha's marriages on the Garrard Co KYGenWeb site, but the transcriptions seem to be incomplete, so that is not to say that one does not exist.

John Farlee/Farley married in 1867 Arzelda Ellen Ferrand, dau of Thomas Jefferson Ferrand and Martha Jane Brown. They moved to Champaign Co., Illinois about 1890.

1850 census of Garrard Co., Kentucky, division 1, enumerated 21 Sep, lists as family #878/926:
Jack Huffman, 48, mail contractor; Jane, 41; Martha A. Farlee, 20; John Farley, 2. All born in Ky.

1860 census of Garrard Co., Kentucky, Lancaster P.O., enumerated 11 June, lists on p. 22 as family #134/133:
Jack Huffman, 58, mail carrier; Jennie, 51; Clementine Grimes, 32; Margaret, 14; John, 11; J. B., 8; Mary W., 6; J. R. Brown, 28, b. Indiana; M. A., 29; John Farlee, 12; Osee E. Brown, 8/12. All except J. R. Brown born in Kentucky.

1870 census of Putnam Co., Indiana, Clinton township, Greencastle P.O., enumerated 25 July, lists on p. 23 as family #175/174:
Brown, James R., 38, b. Indiana; Martha A., 40, b. Indiana; Osee E., 10, b. Kentucky; Maggie B., 8, b. Indiana.

1880 census of Putnam Co., Indiana, Monroe township, enumerated 4 June, lists on p. 4 as family #36:
Brown, Riley, 48, b. Ind Ky Ky, farmer; Martha, 48, wife, b. Ky Ind Ky; Houk, Osa, 20, dau, b. Ky Ind Ky; John, 23, son-in-law, farmer, b. Ind Pa Ind.

Putnam Co. Indiana marriage book 4, p. 156, records the marriage on 27 Nov 1867 of John Farley and Ellen Frand.

1870 census of Putnam Co., Indiana, Clinton township, Portland Mills P.O., enumerated 20 July, lists on p. 9 as family #70:
Farley, John, 22, farm laborer, b. Ky; Arzelda E., 18, b. Ind. (Although it should be Ky for her as well.)

1880 census of Putnam Co., Indiana, Clinton township, enumerated 8 June, lists on p. 20 as family #185/204:
Farley, John, 32, farmer, b. Ky Ky Ky; Ellen, 27, wife, b. Ky Ky Ky; James J., son, 4, b. Ind Ky Ky.

1900 census of Champaign Co., Illinois, South Homer township, enumerated 4 June, lists on pp. 4A-4B as family #91:
Farlee, John, 52, b. Ky Ky Ky, day laborer; Arzelda E., wife, 48, b. Nov 1851, Ky Ky Ky, married 32 years, mother of 4 children, 1 living.

The following household is headed by their one surviving child, James:

1900 census of Champaign Co., Illinois, South Homer township, enumerated 4 June, lists on p. 4B as family #92:
Farlee, James J., 24, b. Feb 1876, Ind Ky Ky, plasterer; Anna E., wife, 23, b. Jan 1877, Ohio Ohio Ohio, married 4 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Thomas J., son, 3, b. Jan 1897; John, son, 1, b. June 1898. Both children born Ill Ind Ohio.

James died before 1910, when his wife Anna moved in with her in-laws:

1910 census of Champaign Co., Illinois, South Homer township, enumerated 23 April, lists on p. 6A as family #82, on First St.:
Farley, John, 62, b. Ky Ky Ky, retired; Arselda E., wife, 58, b. Ky Ky Ky, first marriage for both, married 42 years, mother of 4 children 1 living; Anna E., daughter-in-law, 32, b. Ohio Ohio Ohio, widowed, mother of 3 children, 2 living, assistant postmistress; Thomas J., grandson, 13; John D, grandson, 11. The two children are listed as born Illinois Ohio Ohio, although it should be Ill Ind Ohio.

I cannot find John in the 1920 or 1930 censuses, so he may have died between 1910 and 1920. Arzelda died in 22 Nov 1918 in Champaign Co., Illinois, but I have not found a death record for John.

My hope is that someone in Garrard Co Ky may have access to the early marriage records.

[I have no Farlee/Farley ancesty. My connection is through Arzelda Ellen Ferrand's mother. I am seeking to document the descendants through four generations of Arzelda's parents, Thomas Jefferson Ferrand and Martha Jane Brown (no known or probable relationship to James Riley Brown who married Martha A. Huffman), and part of that includes having John Farlee/Farley's parents and his birth and death dates on the family group sheet for Arzelda and John. I have also cross-posted this query to the Ferrand and Champaign Co., Illinois boards, with some later records included.]
