Well, lets see, here goes. My grandmother is Beulah (Clark) Porter. Her mother was Fern (Robinson) Clark. Her mother was Jennie (Botting) Robinson. And her mother was Mary (Mckee) Botting. I hear Mary was a twin. I wonder what happened to her twin? I have been all over the place up there looking for her resting place(Mary's), but cannot find her. Perhaps she is in some private family plot somewhere.

Hi,

I believe that Mary wants you to find her. I do not know if this true; however, it is rumored that Mary died not by a natural cause. I feel perhaps, that Mary is not at rest. I think that she is buried perhaps in Ashland Me or the surrounding areas.

Maybe she is buried at Merrill Cemetery. Many of the McKees are buried there. Mary's twin was Amelia. The twins were born after their parents arrival in Canada. There is also a younger brother, John, and another set of twins, Ellen and William. And the oldest 2 children were Thomas and George who were born in Ireland before their parents left Ireland.
I would also like to know how Mary died and where she is buried. I wil search my material and let you know what I can come up with. Mary's brother, Thomas, was my great-great grandfather.

Thanks, I'll be going up there in the fall, and I plan to do some more grave yard hunting. I live in Wells so it's about a five hour drive. Have lots of family still living up in the Ashland, Masardis, Oxbow area.

Yes, it is so beautiful up there. I have not beem able to get up north for almost 27 years! I always loved it up there. My uncle has a home up there in Sherman Mills. He has lived up ther for quite awhile. My grandmother, Velma McKee, just passed away in November of 2002, at the age of 96. She was buried in Merrill Cemetery next to my grandfather, David Emil McKee. He died when I was 16.....thought my life ended then. He was the kindest man I have ever known. Many of the oldsters have passed on. I have been so blessed in having most of my grandparents with me for so long. I became a grandmother at the age of 34. We have 7 children and 6 grandchildren.
Well, thank-you for your response. Hope to hear from you again. God bless and let me know if you find out anything about Mary.

Hi there! Just thought I'd jump in on this post. Just started researching a friend's family and his great-grandfather was Samuel Morrison, who married Pamelia McKee in Merrill Plantation. Pamelia is the "Amelia" you saw in the 1850 census... 1860 lists her as Pamelia. They were married about 1869 and had John, George, William, Robena, Maary, Samuel and Grover Cleveland Morrison. Samuel came from Scotland around 1856 and settled first in Masardis, then Merrill. Have you found any more info on Thomas and John's origins in Ireland?
