Descendants of George Ira McKee and Jenny Bartlett

I am presently researching my mother's family name of McKee. Her parents were David Emil McKee and Velma Morrison McKee. David's parents were George Ira McKee and Jennie Bartlett McKee. I think that George and Jennie were born in Canada.
David was one of 13 siblings, including Thomas, Frederick, Lawrence, Vern, Allie, Laura, Stella, Eva, Garfield, Rita, Florence, and Charlotte. My grandfather, David, was born in Calais, Maine on January 23, 1910. I would love to find out more information about George and Jennie. I believe George's parents were Thomas and Sarah McKee. Thomas's parents were John and Margaret McKee. If anyone has additional information, corrections, or comments, please feel free to contact us: NandRGay@aol.com.

Dear Kathleen,
I think we are related! The Mary McKee you are mentioning is probably the Mary McKee that is shown on the 1850 Census that was taken in New Limerick, Maine. The census was taken in September of that year. You can see it at http://www.fortunecity.com/millenium/lala/305/NewLimerick.ht... If you click there, or paste to your browser, the family you mention is there. They are not necessarily listed in alphabetical order, so just go through the list. Another site is at: USGenWeb Project-State of Maine-Aroostook County-New Limerick 1850 census. I'm not sure of the site address. Just go the USGenWeb Project, then choose the State of Maine, then look for (I think its Aroostook County), then New Limerick.
The census lists:
John McKee age 30 born in Ireland
Margaret McKee age 30 born in Ireland
Their children are listed:
Thomas McKee age 9 born in Ireland
George McKee age 5 born in Maine
Amelia McKee age 2 born in Maine
Mary McKee age 2 born in Maine
(Then , I believe, that the Thomas listed here, below, is John McKee's father, and the James McKee listed below is John's brother.)
Thomas McKee age 67 born in Ireland
James McKee age 20 born in Ireland
Also, John and Margaret, have 3 more children in the next few years--John McKee, born around 1852, then another set of twins---William McKee and Ellen McKee born around 1855.
So, the Mary that is listed has to be great-great grandmother. Do you have more information about her and her husband? I'd like to add this information to my tree of the McKee family. Mary's brother, Thomas is my great-great grandfather. He married a Sarah E. and had children: George Ira McKee, Inez Z. McKee, Thomas L. McKee. George was my great-grandfather. He married Jennie Bartlett and they had 13 children: Thomas, Frederick, Vern, Allie, Garfield, David, Lawrence, Florence, Stella, Eva, Charlotte, Laura, and Rita. My grandfather was David Emil McKee and he married Velma Faustina Morrison. They had 3 children: Kenneth Emil McKee, Darleen V. McKee, and Brian David McKee. Darleen is my mother and she married my father, Robert Roland Holmes. They had me(Rolande Gay), Teresia M. (Holmes)O'Hala, Robyn Elana(Holmes) LeBlanc, Robert David McKee, Courtney Velma Holmes. I married Norman Allen Gay in 1983. We have 7 children and 5 grandchildren.
I'd love to hear back from you! You are my cousin, granted who knows...probably like 5th cousin or something, but, yes we are related. Wow, I didn't expect to hear from anyone but I am so glad you contacted me! Where do you live? I am in CT.

Hi cuz,

That is my Mary. She was married to Fielder Botting. My dad knew Fielder, but Mary died before my dad was born. There is a great scandal about Mary's death. Fielder Botting son of William Botting Sr and Frances Routh. Funny thing is that I am going to Conn Saturday with my daughter. It is a heck with winter outing. I am from Massachusetts, but was born in Maine. I hope to go to Maine this summer to do research.

If you want you can email me directly,

kathy

Wow! It is so good to hear from you. Do you know any of the details about Mary? Did they list dates for her? When, where she was born? What was the scandal about? Was she killed by someone? Anyway, wow, so we're cousins. You should be able to get info here in CT. There is one of the Mormon repositories (or whatever they are called) here in Southington, CT. Where are you staying? I live in Wallingford. It would be nice to see you! I'll chat later. Today is my granddaughter's birthday and she is waiting for her cake. She's 4 today and she is being so patient!
Take care and God bless! Rolande Gay

P.S. Do you have a tree submitted to the website? I do.

Rolande,

Mary McKee's husband Fielder Botting died in 1920 or 1925. I should look it up. Did you want there children? I have not really done much research on the McKee line; however, I did come to the conclusion that Mary McKee's parents were John and Margaret McKee.

Seize the day,
Kathy

Yes, Kathy. That would be great if you have the info. My Mckee line has been the hardest to trace because of the fact that many Irish records were destroyed. The farthest back we have is John Mckee and Margaret Roddie. They were each born in the early 1800's. I believe that Thomas Mckee was John's father. John and Margaret had 2 boys, Thomas (my gg grandfather) and George, then they all sailed for NB in the spring of 1846. Margaret was pregnant with twins, Amelia and Mary, which she gave birth to not long after their arrival in St. Johns, NB. John and Margaret had 3 more children, John, Ellen and William (also twins). By the way, twins run in my mother's family.
Thomas Mckee was born Jan. 1843 in Ireland. He married a girl named Sarah ( I don't have her maiden name). They had 5 children: Inez, George (my great-grandfather), Lily, Thomas, and Walter.
George Ira Mckee married Jennie Bartlett (Jennie had an identical twin) and they had 13 children: Alllie, Charlotte, David, Eva, Frederick, Garfield, Laura, Rita, Stella, Thomas, Vern, Lawrence and Florence (twins). David Emil Mckee was my grandfather. He was born 23 Jan 1910 in Calais, Washington County, Maine. He married my grandmother, Velma Faustina Morrison abt. 1929. They had 3 children: Kenneth, Darleen (my mother), and Brian. My grandfather, David, died 13 Jan 1973 in Houlton, Maine. My grandmother, Velma, died 23 November 2002 in her own home in Cheshire, CT. She was 96 years old.
My mother, Darleen Vilda Mckee, was born 29 April 1940 in my grandparent's home in Island Falls, Maine. The family moved to CT in search of better work. My mother married Robert R. Holmes on 6 April 1957 and I was born on 28 Dec 1957 in Meriden, CT. My name is Rolande Holmes Gay. My husband and I have been married for 21 years and we have 7 children.....5 girls, then 2 boys. We also have 6 grandchildren.
Sorry if I got carried away with the info. I would love to hear from you. Take care and God bless!
Rolande Gay

Rolande,

It was great to hear from you. I put in Margaret Roddie and Ancestry says that her father was James Roddie and Elnor Nesbitt( she was his second wife) Do you have this? I believe you will find your ancestors when they want to be found.

Seize the day,
Kathy

Hello, I've posted here before but it's been awhile. Would love to know all I can about Mary Mckee. My great grandmother, Jennie Botting Robinson was a daghter of Mary and when I was a little girl I heard her name mentioned once in awhile. However i can't find where she is buried. Her husband, Fielder is buried in the Robinson cem. in Masardis, but he is next to his second wife Isabel. I have done alot of family research on my genealogy but I keep coming back to Mary. It's wierd. I can't get her off of my mind. You said there was a scandal about her death. Do you have anymore info? I know it's been awhile since you posted this message but I just happened to come across this message board and it got me thinking about her again. Thank You
