Classification: Query
Surnames: Carleton, Jones
My father frequently recounts that we're descended from a Moses Carleton who came to the US in 1630 on the ship John.
In trying to work my way back to Moses, I'm trying to reconcile my father's grandmother's parents who I find on Maine censuses in the 1850s-1880s as William D Jones born c. 1825 and Susan Jones born c. 1827-1829 in Brooksville Maine.
The name Carleton is used as a first name in my family and my father thinks Susan's maiden name was Carleton.
I've found some other resources that indicate a Susan Carleton was born to Ebenezer Carleton in Blue Hill Maine in 1827, which is only 8 miles from Brooksville, but I can't prove or disprove whether they are the same person.

Wondering if anyone else had any ideas.
