Charles W. Hopkins is buried in the Sitka National Cemetery in Alaska. He was born in 1840 in Bucksport, ME. His parents were William A. Hopkins and Euphemia K. (Ingersoll) Hopkins. SGT Charles Hopkins joined the 4TH ME INF, CO B., in 1861 and mustered out in 1864. He married Melina (McLaughlin in Brewer, ME on Oct 7, 1874 and had three children. Their names were Frank A.(1875), Ines Hadlock (1880) and Leland A.(1884) Hopkins. All born in Bucksport, ME. Leland married Helen F. Hopkins in 1909 and had two children, Elwood L.(1909) & Richard F.(1914) Hopkins. The 1900 Census shows that Charles Hopkins residence was in Haines, Alaska.
