I know that one of the LYNN daughters returned to Quebec while the other children remained in Fall Rivers, I also remember my grandmother kept in contact with someone in Fall Rivers. I think it may have been relative, whoever it was is now deceased. I know that my family would be buried in a Catholic Cemetary my aunts are still very strong in their beilefs as were my grandparents.
I am looking both back and foreward in my family tree. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the 1881 census:
There is a Francis Anderson, age 22 in Charlottetown Royalty, and a Patrick Anderson, age 20, in the same town, of Irish Extraction, born in PEI, Roman Catholic. They are not living in the same household as they are workers. Maybe this might apply to your Francis.

Thanks for all of your info and suggestions. I went through the Memramcook, NB church record page by page for an entry on Mary Anne Anderson, but there is none. The last mention of her is in 1885 when their daughter, Stella, was born.

However, there is an entry in Mary Anne's brother's journal dated 1887 where he says he paid "Mary Anderson" a few dollars for washing. So she had to have passed away sometime between then and 1891. Also, in the 1900 US census, Mary Anne's mother lists 8 children, 7 of whom were still living, so she definitely was gone by then.

Not sure if this would help. In the census, Patrick and his wife, Sarah, are listed as being from Canada Eng.

They have in 1900
Mary E, age 15
Francis, age 14 (son)
Margaret age 11
Rose, age 11
Catherine, age 9.

Francis was born on 16 Mar 1887 and on his birth record there was a reference to that fact that Patrick and Sarah were from PEI. Not sure how much access you have to those, but it might help. Later reference in the census is to Nova Scotia...but Patrick's parents were born in Ireland and he was a naturalized American citizen...

If you contact Waltham NARA via e-mail (google for it) they might be able to provide additional information from Patrick's Declaration of Intent and Petition for Naturalization. It might lead you to exact town of birth and if he is indeed, the brother of Francis, might help you track him down.

You might attempt to find this Francis Anderson, son of Patrick, and his family. Maybe a child or grandchild of this Patrick could provide some info. Patrick was born about 1861 so this might provide a ball park age for the Francis you seek.

You might want to search those church records you found for the marriage and birth of Francis' child. If you check from her birth to 1891 for death records, you might find that the wife died in childbirth or something thereafter. Many times if you can check those death records by marriage or maiden names, you will find it in the same church where they were at other times. Just a suggestion.

If I uncover something else, will let you know. I did find a death record for a Francis Anderson, but parents listed were different then those you mentioned so must be a different individual.

Looking for a Francis (Frank) Anderson, Fall River 1890's

I have hit a brick wall on this person.

Francis Anderson - DOB unknown and unknown birthplace, m. October 30, 1883 to Mary Anne Fitzpatrick in New Brunswick. Son of Edward Anderson and Mary Hagan.

In 1885, Francis and Mary Anne had a daughter, Stella May, in NB. She was baptized in the same church they were married in.

However, in the 1891 census, Stella is listed as living with her mother's family (granddaughter) with the Fitzpatricks and her parents are nowhere to be found.

Mary Anne's brother, John Fitzpatrick, makes several references in his journal about Francis living in Fall River with a Pat Anderson (a brother, maybe)? "Febuary 9, 1987 - received 9 dollars from frank anderson", "Mr pat anderson, 131 thomas st fall river Mass", and "Mr francis anderson, Sonett [sic?] Mass in care of patrick grimes"

I did find a Francis and Pat Anderson living in Fall River in the early 1890s, and the address matches exactly with the one in the journal. I have never been able to find any information on Mary Anne, so I thought that if I could find what happened to Francis, I may be able to find Mary Anne.

I know it may be a stretch, but I'm looking for my mom's birth father, Hugh Smith from MA. I know he married a Sullivan & had children before he ran off w/my birth g-m. He supposedly drowned even though he'd been a good swimmer in the Navy.

I have a membership to NEHGS which has the BMD records for Mass though 1915. I did not see a marriage or death for Charles E.

I did find the death of George SP Bradford; New Bedford 30 Sept 1886, male, married, 64y 8m, from cerebral apoplexy. Lived on Point Road, was a Sergant is the USM (?)b. Canada. Parents: William and Alice both from England.

and of Mary E. (Martin) Bradford; New Bedford, 29 Aug 1906, female, widow of George SP Bradford. age 74, resides 54 Fourth St. born New Castle NH, parents John Martin, Olive Drudham; informant was Mrs. Miles A. Gifford. Buried Rural Cem 31 Aug 1906.

Can any one help me with a marriage or death for Charles E Bradford (born c. 1854 S Carolina. He was living with his parents (George SP Bradford and Mary E (Martin))in New Bedford in 1880 aged 26y and was an Actor. I cannot find him in any further censuses.

A Charles E Bradford who died in 1907, Plymouth does not seem to be "mine"

Hello Angela,
What a surprise. I knew that my dad visited 'family' in the UK and I heard stories about family in south africa but that was all I knew. I got a box of pictures and documents sent to me after Peter died and it included a photograph with 'sister' written on it and some pictures of what looked like family but had no names. So that's amazing that there are cousins out there. My dad took on both surnames of his parents and there were endless tales about who they were and what they did but basically my dad never really knew how to be emotionally involved with others. Being pretty much given away to aunts and then sent to a live in naval school kind of limited his sense of fmaily and responsiblity. His friends were always entertained by his wit and stories but being a father or dad was kind of alien to him.
I would love to know more about the rest of the family because our knowledge begins and ends with my dad.
My sister lives in kent as does my mother.

I really don't have the answer to your question, as I have so many questions myself. Though the James WARBURTON in my post was the natural son of Hugh SMITH, James WARBURTON was adopted raised by my g-g-uncle & g-g-aunt, John & Anastasia DALEY WARBURTON. Looking at Danbury's census information for 1920 and 1930, I see that Hugh SMITH and the WARBURTONs lived close by one another, but I'm not sure how Hugh SMITH's son came to be adopted by the WARBURTONs.

DANBURY, Aug. 20 -- Hugh A. SMITH, former superintendent of the American Hatters and Furriers factory here, died this morning in the home of his daughter, Mrs. George F. HUMESTON, Jr., Brushy Hill road.

Services will take place Monday at 9:15 a.m. in the Freeland funeral home, 91 West street, and at 10 o'clock in St. Peter's church. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery.

Born in Fall River, Mass., Mr. SMITH was a son of the late John and Mary DUGGAN SMITH. He had been a resident of Danbury the past 44 years. He was a member of the Danbury Aerie, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

In addition to Mrs. HUMESTON, he is survived by six sons, John J. of Carmel, N.Y., Eugene F. of Bridgeport, T. Leon, of Redding, Edward F. and Frederick J. I also see from the birth records of children born in New Bedford that Molly Levin's maiden name was Malcovitch or Merkolitz. It was spelled different on each birth.

Esau Levin listed in New Bedford City Directory in 1937 at 618 Kempton St- under Junk Dealers. Found in 1940 and 1943 City Directories at 44 Court St. and in 1945,1949 and 1955 Directories at 242 Hawthorn St.

Searching for ESAU LEVIN

I am seeking further information on my great grandfather- ESAU LEVIN (b. 23 December 1906 - d. January 1987) – and also any information on Esau’s parents of whom I know nothing. Esau’s place of birth and death are both in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Esau married my great grandmother, Shirley WITKIND who became Shirley LEVIN, on November 22, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ.

Shirley was born on August 12, 1910, in Baymon, NJ. She spent a lot of her childhood in New Jersey. She eventually met Fred in New Bedford, MA at a Fireworks store.

Levin children from this marriage are Fred LEVIN (my grandfather- b. 28 May 1936 in Wilmington, Delaware), and KAY LEVIN (my great aunt- b. 17 December 1942 in New Bedford, Massachusetts). Kay has changed her name, in which it is currently Karissa Ashley.

Fred married my grandmother, Claire ELIAS who became Claire LEVIN, on June 14, 1959 in New Bedford, MA.

Any information you have on Esau's birth, parents, or ancestry I would most appreciate.

I am trying to find information about my great grandparnets James and Sarah Jennings.
Sarah was born about March of 1850 in Flinshire, England and died between 1910-1020 in New Bedford, Bristol, Mass.
James was born 1846 in England and died between 1920-1930 in New Bedford.

They came to america with their children in 1891. I am also trying to find their son Francis who married Marie Luciana LaVoie. Thank you

NEHGS is a paid website it is 75 dollars a yr. It is not a bother to do research for some one.There is alway's some one who is willing to do it myself included.
Mass archives has a website that gives you the name and yr. but yu have to send for the documents which cost money.

and Daniel for Lydia no mothers name.
I thought I might look for a death record if it is before 1915 and in Ma.

I have a marriage in New Bedford, 31 Aug 1848, for George Nelson and Lydia Ann Eldridge. I've been unable to find any information on the parentage of either of them. Can anyone assist? They had ch: Anne, Walter, Abby, William, Daniel, and Frederick. The couple are still in New Bedford in the 1900 census.

john lee love was a black inventor that invented the plasterers hawk & pencil sharpener. he was from fall river & i can find no biographical info on him. does anyone know anything at all about him? thanks.

I am also researching this James Walker. He is proving to be difficult to find. Here is what I have found:
Died Feb 13, 1873 (obituary only)
Born April 1816 (based on age at death)
Married Elizabeth Taber (no date of marriage)
daughter of Samuel and Susan (Washburn) Taber
Children:
Samuel

Hannah
Levi
Elizabeth
Albert
Lucy

I have found them living in Fairhaven, Sandwich, and Acushnet.If you have any questions about the information I have, let me know and I will try and tell you how I got the information. If anyone has any more information it would be gratefully appreciated!

Ryan I don't know if you know Mauve is Irish for Mary or perhaps Marie just as Sean is John .I found a birth for Marie Louise Rose Morin b.Oct.9, 1903 Ware parents Ferdinand and Helen Guertin father operator parents b. Canada

MY Great Grandad was Ma...no one seems to know where. William Manchester Hathaway b. abt.1836 and was in the Civil War. We know he died in his 40's but no one seems to know who he belonged to or with. He died in So.Kingstown, RI but walked to Newport to bury his small son...
