I am looking for information on a Maria Louisa Farias or Martines that traveled from MA in 1877, possibly Boston, to California when she was 14, visiting an Aunt. She may have been born in MA, but most likely Pico, Azores, Portugal. She stayed in California, marrying John P. Machado, 10 years her senior.

I am looking for the parents of Manuel FARIS Martin born 19 Apr 1885 MA died 27 Feb 1967 Merced Co, CA married Rose Nunes born 24 Jan 1896 CA.
Manuel's death cert. states his mother's maiden name was also Martin. His parents were from the Azores according to family members, Pico Island.
Could the Maria your looking for be the mother of Manuel?

I am researching my Machado family and just found a cemetary record online at the St. Patrick's Cemetery in Arroyo Grande in San Luis Obisbo, CA for John P. Machado born around 1853 and died in June 1917. Also there I found Maria Luisa Machado native of Boston age 25 died 1887 in Arroyo Grande who is listed as John P.'s wife. In my records. John P. (Pereiro or Purero or some such) Machado had 3 children Mary (who married a Domingas), John & Manuel (who was my great grandfather). If you have anything more on the Machado line let me know but I would be interested in all you have for Maria as well as that is my great great grandmother.
