Unfortunately I lost track of Mertice after 1937. According to the Worcester City Directories Marcus Wells married 2 more times (that I was able to find) after his marriage to Mertice. I believe he and Mertice were only married for 2 or 3 years, if that many, could be only a year. Also, yhe City Directories do not list children under the age of 18.

Hi Jean,

I just found Charles Keller Reed's passport, dated 10 Nov 1919, and have attached them to this post.

Best regards,

Sue,
The Frenchman I am helping has asked me a final favor that I am working on. He is looking for a photograph of Chester Albert Reed ( 1876 - 1912 ) in the Worcester area. I have contacted the historical society, public library, American Antiquarian Society, and the nature museum in Worcester, MA. and am awaiting replies. Would you have a photograph of him using your resources? He was an ornithologist, author, and illustrator in Worcester, MA. Any help that you could give me would be very much appreciated.
Jean.

Hi,
I just have a quick question that you may or may not be able to assist me with. I hesitate to even ask you because you have already gone well beyond what most people would do to help a stranger. I just have a quick question. In the information that you posted to me, it stated that Charles Keller Reed had died in 1906; however he had had a passport issued to him in 1919 per another posting. Would it be possible to nail down a date of death for him? And then I swear that I will give you a well deserved rest from the Reed genealogy! Once again, I thank you for all you have done for me!

Hi Jean,

Not a problem...I am happy to help any time! :0)

Charles Keller Reed died 11 Mar 1922 in Jacksonville, Florida, as stated in my previous post with the Descendant Report of Samuel Worcester Reed.

I just noticed your last post to me regarding a passport for Chester Albert Reed. I did not find one, which is a shame as I would love to get a gander at the face of this very interesting man.

You are most welcome,
Sue

Oops! I meant to say regarding a PHOTO of Chester Albert, not a passport.

So just for clarification, there was no passport issued to Charles Keller Reed in 1919? Would it be possible to locate death record information for him in 1906, only knowing the year of death and nothing else? Would you be able to locate that for me using your resources? I know I'm pushing the envelope here!
Jean

Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, there is definately a passport issued in 1919 to Charles Keller Reed.

I did not find a passport or photo for his son Chester Albert Reed

In reviewing posts on this topic I noticed 2 dates, 1921 and 1906.

Children of Samuel Reed and Adaline Norton are:
+ 2 i. Charles Keller2 Reed, born 20 Apr 1851 in Huntington, Hampshire, MA; died 11 Mar 1921 in Jacksonville, Florida.

and a quote from the Mineralogist record that had (1851-1906)

However, in checking the online copy of tha bio in The Mineralogist, I noted it actually had:

Charles K. Reed
(1851->1906)

Charles Keller Reed was born in Huntington, Hampshire County, Massachusetts April 20, 1851 . . .

I wonder if that notation for the date indicates not a death date, but a "still living as of" date. I have not seen that notation before - usually just a plain hyphen, so thought maybe it meant something different. This is pure speculation on my part :-)
