Another online Family genealogy bookstore is born and they are pretty good in the way they market their products. Beside the fact that they have very high quality products, they have a perfect bound soft cover and a hardback format of the rarest books available to researchers, their books are cheap compared to other online bookstore but what make them unique is that they send you with each book order the searchable pdf format on a CD of the book that you order and the CD also contains their catalog. I am a critique for an online blog and I shall not say its name here and I must say that they are very impressive.

I ordered a couple of books from them and I was very pleased with their service and their product.

I know that I sound like I am trying to promote them but I am just trying to give them what is due to them, acknowledgment.

Their Web address is:

www.ancestralbooks.com
Sorry I have been away from my search for a long time now. I will have to dig out my records, but I show Tully J. Pratt to be son of Ezra Pratt Jr., who is son of Ezra Pratt and brother of Tully Pratt who died in Marshfield in 1903. Again I will have to dig out my records and go thru them to confirm my research.

I found that Hannah's maiden name was Stevens. Her first husband was George Stonebrook. On the 1850 census in Nunda, Livingston Co., NY, she was living with her son George Stonebrook, and dau. Alvira Filkins, dau. of David Filkins.
Still looking for the first wife of David Filkins. It wasn't Deborah. Deborah was the widow of a cousin of David's, and she was living in 1850 with her dau. the wife of George Mercer.
Living next to Hannah (Stevens) (Stonebrook) Filkins on the 1850 census was her brother-in-law, Abraham Filkins, who died the next year in Cayuga Co., NY, intestate, and his estate was distributed to his siblings, naming them all.

I think this is the right Norris.

Harriett Allnutt's parents were William and Elizabeth Allnutt. Elizabeth died in 1917 and William in 1944 Both were born in England.

Search "William Allnutt"

Kathy

I am dong some family research with my mother, and we are trying to find and connect with family members in Cato or Port Charles in Cayuga, County New York.

My great-grandmother is Harriet Allnutt Smith. She married William Smith in 1904 and had two children, Genevieve and Norris. Genevieve is my grandmother who was born in 1906. Norris, I believe was born in 1907. My mother remembers that my grandmother lived on a farm and visiting her uncle. She does know that her Uncle Norris, married and had many children (she thinks 12). If you know anything, please let me know. Thank you

Well, I'm coming across this thread a year later, but...

John is my great-great grandfather. I'm not sure why he isn't in the 1870 census, but he did eventually settle in NYS. He died in Washington, DC, where he was living with his daughter, Violet True. I have found references to Billings being his father, but haven't found much else. I don't believe Elizabeth was his mother.

Abby (1846-1925) married into the Kosters family. Amelia (1855-1930) into the Blumrick family and Augusta (1857-1932) married into the Roach family. Looking for any information on these daughters or the name of the mother. Is this the correct family unit? The may have been an oldest son - also called Joseph (1842-1888).

William Wheat is related to me thru his 3rd wife Eliza Hammond Wheat. Eliza was married first to William's nephew John A Wheat. I have Eliza's bible, and William's birth is recorded as occurring March 27 1781 in Barnardstown, Berkshire Co. Massachusetts. He died at Genoa New York Nov. 28 1865. Eliza and William had a son, John Hammond Wheat. He was born at Venice Aug. 27 1856. The bible does not give the names of William's parents, but there was a large 2 vol. Wheat Family History that was written in the 1920's. The book is available in the larger genealogy libraries. I have gotten many clues on the Wheat ancestry from this book. From the research I have done, it appears to be fairly accurate, at least for the later years. My grandmother's information in this history appeared to be accurate, so it is worth looking at if you can find a library that has it.

I believe the correct date for the marriage of David Chamberlain and Eliza Smith is 4 September 1828. David was born 16 May 1803 in Adams Co., PA and died 12 June 1893 in Niles, Cayuga Co., NY.

Elliot G. Storke, History of Cayuga County, New York 1789 - 1879, (D.
I would like to thank you for the information on Bunn/Hemlon. I was the wife of Lyle T. Bunn and we had two boys, Bryan Edward and Lyle Francis. I have since remarried and the two boys were adopted and their names change to Cowart. Bryan passed away on September 14, 2006 from lung cancer. Harold and Ina's daughter, Jean, is interested in any information we can find on the Bunn side of the family. I would appreciate any more information that you have and you can e-mail me at riverats21@aol.com. Thanks again.

Hi Kathy,

Your speculation sounds very plausible. When Erastus died in the early 1850s Sarah would have been about 51. Without children, she probably had no means of support so it would make sense that she would remarry, probably out of necessity. Burleigh states in his book that her maiden name was Jones so it is highly likely that Sarah and Laura were sisters. That would explain Laura and her children living with Sarah and Erastus in 1850.

The fultonhistory site appears to have a wealth of information for that region of upstate New York. My mother's family was centered in West Winfield throughout the 1800s before my great-grandfather moved his family to Brooklyn, N.Y., near the start of the 20th century. My wife also has ancestors that trace back to Monroe County in the 1840s. I was unaware of the fultonhistory site. I will have to give it a closer look.

Thanks for your interest and help.

Steve
Delores, it is not entirely clear who you are seeking, but the name that you gave, Harold Joseph, possibly is Harold Joseph Bunn, who did have brothers William C. Bunn and John Clarence Bunn. Unless otherwise stated, place names in the following information are in Cayuga Co., NY.

William, Harold, and John Bunn were children of John Bunn (b. ca. 1863 in England, d. 18 Feb 1896 at Auburn) and Elizabeth A. Hanlon (b. Apr 1860 in Scipio, d. 6 Feb 1928 at Auburn). The senior John Bunn was son of Edwin Bunn (b. ca. 1828 in England, d. 23 Apr 1894) and Ann or Anna (b. ca. 1827 in England, d. 7 June 1909 in Sennett). Elizabeth Hanlon was daughter of Patrick Hanlon (b. May 1824 in County Kildare, Ireland; d. 18 Nov 1902 in Scipio) and Anna O'Brien (b. 1828 in County Kildare, Ireland; d. 1878 in Scipio).

Going back to Harold Joseph Bunn (b. 9 Mar 1894 in Scipio, d. ca. 12 Mar 1968 at Willard, Seneca Co., NY), he was married to Ina Frances Taylor (b. 29 May 1908 in Venice, d. 13 Sep 1967 at Watertown, Jefferson Co., NY) on 19 Jan 1929 in Venice. They had four Bunn children. One of these children, Lyle T. Bunn (b. 26 Jul 1934 in Venice) died 9 Jul 1962 at Constantia, Oswego Co., NY, but his siblings probably are still living.

Harold's brother, William C. Bunn (b. ca. Jun 1892 in Scipio, d. 25 Apr 1952 at Fulton, Oswego Co., NY) married Iva May Johnston (b. Mar 1893, d. 27 Sep 1919 at Auburn). They had a daughter, Jane Bunn (b. ca. Aug 1915, d. 6 Oct 1952 at Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY).

Harold's other brother, John Clarence Bunn (b. 10 May 1896 in Scipio, d. 14 Nov 1970 at Cortland, Cortland Co., NY) married Bertha Stewart (b. ca. 1905 in Iowa) and had children Marguerite A. Bunn (b. 13 Nov 1922 in NY, d. 16 Mar 2002 at Rio Rancho, Sandoval Co., NM) and John S. Bunn (b. ca 1925 in NY, d. ca. 1970 in CA). John Clarence Bunn and Bertha Stewart divorced at some point between 1925 and 1933 when she remarried.

Marguerite A. Bunn was married to a living (possibly) White and they had three living (probably) White children.

Delores, it looks like your children would have about 5 living 1st cousins and a bunch more 2nd cousins. I can provide more detailed information should you like.

This is just a long shot but I found a public notice for a probate of a will for a Maria L Willis and some of the next of kin were Laura Colburn of Phoenix(Phoenix is where her daughter is living-Almena Colburn Carrier) and a Sarah Walker of South Butler and a Russell Jones and Elias Jones.

On the 1860 census I found a Sarah married to Levi Walker-the right age as the Sarah you are looking for living in Butler. Could she have remarried after the death of Erastus Guild??

Could Sarah and Laura be sisters connected to the Jones name??

This is just speculation on my part-something to check out.
You stated that Sarah's maiden name may be Jones.

You can find the notice www.fultonhistory.com search

"Laura Colburn" Hit # 5

Kathy

She married John A Carrier sometime between 1870 and 1880 as his second wife. He is listed on the 1870 Census with a wife Sarah J and 2 boys, James A and Fred. She died in Ilion on 25 Feb 1932. She had no children.

Go to www.fultonhistory.com and search
"Almena C Carrier"
"Almena Carrier"
A few newspaper articles about her including her obit.
Hi Kathy,

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is where I am going with this inquiry. The 1850 census for Bridgewater, Oneida County, N.Y., lists Erastus Guild, 51, and his wife Sarah, 48. Living with them is Laura (Colbiem) Colburn, 45, and her children, Almeda, 17, Adelbert C., 11, and George, 9. The Guild family history written by Charles Burleigh in 1887 states that after Erastus died in 1853 Sarah moved to Butler. I am guessing this is the same place where George and Hannah, with George's mother Laura, show up in 1880. This being the case, the Laura Colburn living in Butler in 1880 would be the same Laura Colburn living in Bridgewater in 1850. Unfortunately, I can't find Sarah in any of the later censuses.

Ok, but what's Laura's relationship to Erastus? Burleigh writes in his book that Erastus and Sarah had no children. Erastus had a sister Laura, but she is listed as being five years older than Laura Colburn and having married a man named Crandell and moving to Westfield, N.Y. There are records out of Westfield to support this. Unless Laura Colburn is related to Erastus' wife, Sarah, whose maiden name is reported to be Jones.

Why am I interested? I am descended from one of Erastus' other sister, Mabel, who married William Woodbury of West Winfield in 1825.

Steve
I am interested in contacting anyone related to Edward Conley (1883-1957), his wife Laura (1878-1948) and her parents, George Colburn (1841-1930) and his wife Hannah (1845-1919). The two couples are buried in the Sunnyside section of Soule Cemetery in Sennett, N.Y., according a record I found at the Cayuga County Genweb site. George and Hannah Colburn and their children also show up in the 1900 census for Auburn. I am trying to determine if this is the same family found in the 1880 census for Butler in Wayne County, N.Y., and how Laura Colburn, listed with the family at age 75 in the 1880 census, is related.

Steve

Pictures of George H Townsend and son, Eugene

Alvah Townsend born around 1811 died on October 8,1887 and is buried in Soule Cemetery. He lived very close from 1840 until his death to Marcus Townsend or Elijah C Townsend. They always lived in Sennett. Marcus is the oldest brother to Nathan Townsend, my 3rd great-grandfather. Does anyone know who the father of Alvah Townsend was?

The pictures that are posted in the autograph book of Belinda Riley(Cayuga genweb)are very similar to pictures of my grandfather and great grandfather Townsend. Alvah's son, George H Townsend, is related to William Townsend who lived in Wolcott, Wayne Co. I am interested in the connection and more about the Riley/Townsend families.
I have a Auburn Picciano's in my tree on my wife's side - an Angelina, who was married to a Patsy DelSanto. Angelina died in the 1960's.

I also have a number of Picciano's from Endicott, NY who are related on my side. I haven't done too much research on this line yet, so I don't know if there are connections between the Auburn and Endicott Picciano's.
