John Jackson - WWII Battle Death Casualty from Washington County
I Would like more information on a former Washington County veteran who was killed in action during WWII. I would like to know the Date of Death for John Jackson (Army Serial Number 32 746 247) and the Battery of the 185th Field Artillery to which he was assigned when he was killed. It is believed that John Jackson was killed in either North Africa or in Italy. John Jackson was serving as a private with the 185th Field Artillery Battalion - 34th "Red Bull" Division when he was killed. He is not listed as being buried at the American cemetery in North Africa or at one of the two American cemeteries in Italy. His body may have been returned to the US after the war (1946 - 1949) for reburial, and may have been returned to Washington County.
