I noticed your reply about West Troy, NY.
this maybe a long shot but maybe you could give me a place to start.
I just received my gggrandfather's pension papers from the Civil War. in it his widow
Harriet, states that she and her husband Benjamin Franklin
Washburn were married in West Troy, NY July 14, 1847 by
Justice of the
Peace Martin
WinneyI had found that Watervliet was the name of the town now. She states that she believed there were no documents of that marriage. Does Watervliet have any old documents for marriage.
Also states in the pension papers that husband was born
Putnam, NY 1826 they moved to
Essex Co., NY by 1849 were all their children were born.
I would be interested to know about the documents
Thank you for any information you may have!
