If you check Google books, there is an overview of Peter Lansing's career & travels in Free Baptist Cyclopedia and says that he married Lucinda in 1833. In 1830 US Census there is a Peter Lansing in Madison County, NY. There are many Leland's there at the time, but Ezra Leland was a Baptist deacon, so perhaps Lucinda is Ezra's daughter?

Just a thought

Searching for any inforamation concerning James Gerolamy

I'm seeking any information about an ancestor named James Gerolamy who was born in 1762 in or around Albany New York. To date I've found nothing other than he was a member of the King's Royal Regiment of New York and then a member of Jessup's Rangers during the Revolutionary War. Following the war he settled in Upper Canada in June 1786, where he received a land grant in Prince Edward County as a Loyalist.
There is nothing known about his parents or how they ended up in the Albany area nor his ancestory...could be descended from a Hessian trooper or emigrated from Ireland?? ( the surname is often mispelled...eg: Jerolamy, Durolamy)

I would be most grateful if someone could suggest where I start my search for him. Thank you.

Perhaps if you post to the Saunders County NE site someone can find one and will have her family's name

Good Luck!

You can order a photocopy of the marriage certificate (which should have his parent's names),from the LDS in Salt Lake City, easily and cheaply. Copies are $2 ea., min. order is $4. You download the Request Form from the familysearch.org site, then fill it out with the Title and FHL Film # of the microfilm the certificate should be on (as found in the Library Catalog on familysearch). You will put the cert. # in the column all the way on the right of the form (where it asks for registration #).
From the NYC Grooms Index (as found on the germangenealogygroup.com website):

McCabe, Leon J. Aug.9, 1913 Manhattan #19074

FHL Film would be:

Title: Manhattan marriage records, 1866-1937

FHL Film # 1613796

To get Request Form:

On familysearch.org homepage, upper right where it says "forms, maps, guides", click "forms". On new screen scroll down to where it says "Request for Photocopies-census, books, microfilm...". This is form #31768. Download and print out form. I recommend you send a moneyorder rather than a check, it'll go much faster. You should get your copy in 7-13 days.

Good luck.
Kit

Leon J. McCabe appears on the 1900 & 1910 census in Manhattan with his mother Ella/Ellen who is widowed. His birthdate on his WWI draft reg. is March 10, 1886. I don`t find him on the SSDI. If you know his death date/place you could send for the record & hope it has parents names or his SS number. With the SS # you could send for his SS5 form from the SS Admin. which would show his parents names including mother`s maiden name if he knew it when he filled out the form. You could also try to find his birth certificate. Go to this site for info:
http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/birth.shtm...

Pat R.

Thanks for writing and hope you get some positive info on your ancestry! I'd do a DNA screening, but I'm not sure anything would show up - I think I'd only get my mother's side, nothing from her father or his mother who was the Wansor. Other than that, some of our family members do look like they have Native American blood - my mother, two of her brothers, the Grandfather of a third cousin in Florida...and he looks just like one of my uncles! That wedge shaped nose and broad cheekbones don't look like they could be anything else! I've often wondered about the 'shovel-shaped' teeth - I don't have anything to compare to..
I know the Mongolian spot is in the Chinese, since one of my nieces had it, and also in Hungarians - my father was Hungarian (1st generation American). I asked my mother if any of us had the Mongolian spot, but she couldn't remember. I do know I was born with black hair, lol.
Thank you so much for the offer of the DRC records listing many Native Americans! I would LOVE to have them! We LI Wansors have just been going in circles since we're stuck at that late 1700s date! Thanks again, Janice

Jannetie1 and Allan- The suspense is killing me. I'm descended from Ann Lorena Wonser (she’s 422 in the ‘History of the Wanzer Family in America’ book); she was my great-grandmother.
After a lifetime of hearing that we’re descended from Indians on that line, I sent my DNA to Pathway Genomics. I ordered both the ancestry and the health screening, and the ancestry results should arrive in my email next week, if they can catch up with their backlog. For the record: my primary proof is dental- everyone in my family that I can find has shovel –shaped incisors, and I lack the Carabelli cusp.
Back in 1999, Christopher H. Wynkoop mentioned Charles Wanshaer Wynkoop in his paper on Native American and Dutch intermarriage. Here’s the link. He made excellent points.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wynkoop/we...
I also have links to voluminous Dutch Reformed Church records which list the baptisms of many Native Americans, giving their Native and English/Dutch baptismal names. Please let me know if you would like me to list them; I hesitate to make this post longer.

I am finding out Frank Sr. spelled their last name different in Calumet, Mi. as Lamore, Lamare. My clues follow him as Toussaint lamarre b-1857 in Chambly, Canada. to Calumet, Mi. in 1886 to marry my grandmother Melina Archambault. Their children were Joseph, Frank, Delia and a William Lamore b-1894 and a Estella Lamora b-28 Mar, 1889 to Frank Lamora and Minnie Lamora. Melina (Minnie) died in 1897 so the family split up.

If William/George were a prominent writer, he certainly would have had a prominent obit in his own paper. (I think that the George was a misprint, as well.)

Some websites you should check are www.fultonhistory.com (as of 10/31/09 down for updates, check after 11/1/09)
http://www.newspaperabstracts.com/ which is free
Also, because he was prominent in US, I would check Irish papers as well
http://www.irelandoldnews.com/index.html (not comprehensive, but you may have luck)
Ancestry has Irish news, as well

I've now found the obituary for Jane, his daughter and I think in all my excitement of getting new info I overlooked your earlier comment that it refers to "George Alexander" rather than William Alexander. I am satisfied that the obituary definitely relates to the person I know as William Alexander's daughter, Jane so it is strange that it states George as her father. I'm wondering if it is either a case of the names getting mixed up in the obituary or perhaps he went under a pen name when writing articles. I've been googling the latter with various permutations but no luck as yet. It does however appear that he died some time between 1880 & 1900. I will check the LDS pilot.

If you were able to find the obit, you will see that her father is the late George Alexander, in my previous email I thought he was living.

Also, the LDS new pilot site has NY State census on line for 1892 and there is no William Alexander, so he may have died between 1880-1892. However, you may want double check that.

(you may be able to find this newspapaer elsewhere, this is how I found it) Search George Donnelly, you will find obit for Jane in April 8 1900.

Looking for death info. I have Edna in N Hempstead, Nassau County 1930; returned to England 1932; back to US 1933. Passenger list shows employer Henry Chickering, 755 Parke Avenue, NY. She is believed to have died young - Italiangen.org shows possible death Manhattan March 22 1934; cert 7480. Can anyone please verify this as fact? Also cause of death? Family legend has it she died because she didn't have insurance and couldn't get to hospital. Alternatively, did she die elsewhere? I would like to have the information so that I can try and get hold of a certificate.
