I was able to find her on the 1940 census and also 1930 census thanks to your help. She is listed as Verdie Thomas and I was looking for Rosa Val Verdie Thomas.

Thanks again. So sad that she was there from prior to 1930 til 1961 when she died. My parents took my Grandmother (Ruby Inez Thomas Copeland-her daughter) to see her Mother (Rosa Val Verdie) several times in the hospital.
