Hello Nancy,
I'm working on this family for friend at the Polk Co., OR Hist. Soc. I found Jarvis Hay's widow (Martha Brown) remarried to a James P. Schooling and living in Linn Co., OR in 1900, near Jeremiah Hay. This shows they've been married 3 years (m. 1897)
Living with this couple is a child - Eva Pearl Hay b. Jan 1891 OR. She's called - "step grandau" meaning step to James Schooling, but would mean was Martha's grand-daughter.

I found on the OR Historical Index on line that there was a guardianship for Eva Pearl Hay in Josephine Co. in 1897.
Do you know which of Jarvis and Martha's children was the parent of this child, Eva? She's the one I'm after.

I'm in the gathering process now trying to put this family together. Glad to share.

Pam Smith
Dallas, OR

You are barking up the right tree! I am the granddaughter of Bert William Kenyon b.25 June 1888 in Kansas. His father was Orsemous Alfred Kenyon b. 1859 in NY, who had a brother, Bert Freman Kenyon. Bert Freman moved to Grants Pass,OR around 1900 and worked for the railroad. Bert William Kenyon, his nephew, followed him to Oregon in 1937. He had a son (my uncle) Bert Auverne Kenyon b. 1927 in Kansas, who died in Grants Pass in 2000. I would be glad to share any information I have. Bert Auverne Kenyon's widow (my aunt by marriage) still lives here in Grants Pass, and I'm having Christmas dinner with her family tomorrow.
I noticed your old post regarding Conrad Lindsey. As it turns out, Conrad was my Uncle Con. My name is Bruce Griffin the youngest son of Vi's sister, Jessie Irene Griffin (King). We stayed with them while my mother battled chronic health problems. This would have been around 1962-65 or so. I was in Grants Pass just last week and the old house at 305 H St is still there

I was pretty young then, but I seem to remember that he drove a great big Pontiac pink in color as I recall.

Yours,

Bruce GRiffin

George W Porter died Josephine County 8 Apr 1960; George W Porter died Jackson County 4 Oct 1969 age 83. During that time period, many Josephine County people died in Jackson County because they had larger and somewhat better hospitals. Both appear in the Oregon Death Index. If you need more info, let me know. Might be able to find obits.
