MRS. WRIGHT SUCCUMBS
Mrs. George H (Annette) Wright, 77, wife of a Klamath Falls, pioneer physician, died April 2 at Hillside Hospital. She had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Wright was born September 22, 1882 in Chilton, Wisconsin and was graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago. She was married June 22, 1910 to Dr. Wright, an intern at the hospital. Following his graduation, the couple came to Klamath Falls, where he has since practiced. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June.
For many years she accompanied him on his calls to homes in the Klamath Basin, serving as his obstetrical nurse at the births of more than 1,000 babies. She was his surgical assistant in one emergency when surgery was performed in a local home. Hundreds of these trips were made by horse and buggy. Mrs. Wright was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church, but her official duties as a registered nurse prevented affiliation with social or civic groups. She was an ardent sportswoman, fishing and hunting in her early life.
Survivors include the widower, at the family home, 1761 Main Street, Klamath Falls, one daughter, Mrs. Robert H. (Henrietta) Thayer, Chicago, three sisters, Mrs. Zelma Snell, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, Mrs. Minnie Gilman, Plymouth, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Laura Stauss, Chilton, Wisconsin; two brothers Reuben and Art Vahldieck, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; also three grandsons.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, April 8, at 2 p.m. from the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robert C. Groves officiating. O'Hair's Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
