These land grants were from the government in Charleston and were recorded in the Minutes of the Council. The plats were recorded by the Secretary and are available on microfilm at the SC State Archives in Columbia. The Plat books give a sketch of the grant as produced by the surveyor. Information on the Archives is at http://www.state.sc.us/scdah/
Jean Stephenson's book SCOTCH-IRISH MIGRATION TO SOUTH CAROLINA, 1772 (Rev. William Martin And His Five Shoploads Of Settlers) gives a summary of the land given to each of the settlers, as well as the list of who was on each ship. Her book is the most complete listing available of this group, but does not include everyone. Some settlers were able to buy land outright and did not appeal to the Council for grants, so nothing on them is included in the Council Minutes from which she drew her information. A copy of this book is in the Chester Library in Chester, SC.
