Looking for information on my great grandfater, Emil Carl Schmidt.

B: 18 Dec 1860 in Germany. Perhaps in Bremen or a place once called Kallies (sp).

He came to the U.S. in 1884 in lived in Minnesota where he was married to Amanda Thomander in 1886. They moved to Herreid, South Dakota around 1907. He died in 1936 in Herreid, SD.

My grandfather, Otto also lived in Herreid and 4 of his children were born there: Augusta, Maurine, Harvey and Hazel.
