I have been trying to track down the movements of my great-grandfather and his family from their arrival (from Liverpool) in NY in 1869-71 (still not sure which ship/date...too many similar names)to their appearance in Little Rock, Arkansas (on the 1880 census). Then they went to New Orleans by 1888 (and stayed there). Name of ggfather= David Charles Roberts (D.C.), spouse= Ann Jane Buck Roberts, sons born in England (1867 & 1866)Thomas Henry Roberts and David Charles Roberts. Alma and Mabel (Maybelle) were born, per U.S. Federal Census records 1880+ in Tennessee in 1874 and 1876, but since Tennessee did not keep records that early (I checked Shelby county online w/no luck, but no idea which county...) I need help...perhaps church records??? DC Roberts was a Freight Agent for L & N railroad and Thomas worked for them as well (started at the age of 14, evidently...). Thomas, and perhaps his father, was a Mason so maybe that can help. I found the family on the 1851 and 1861 census records in England. Just these 10+ years are so hard to figure out....railroading must be a key, though! Thanks for any help or suggestions. ATR
