Winnie is my great grandmother and I know very little about her, but would like to know more. She married Ollie Joe Miller of Texas. Ollie Joe Miller's parents are Benjamin F. Miller of Missouri and Angeline (Annie) Rice Allison of Kentucky. All I have heard of her was what little my grandfather remembered and was willing to share. She was "taken away" when he was very young.

The story my grandfather (Joe Cecil) was told is that Winnie was mentally ill and Ollie Joe had her committed, but most of the family believed her husband put her away instead of divorcing her. I don't know how true it all is, but I was told she was Cherokee and had land. If this is true then it was because land was accepted in lieu of being on the Dawes Roll? In any case, the land is why he married her. So, if he divorced her, he would also lose her land.

It would be good to know if there is any truth to these stories. My grandfather never really wanted to talk much about her and he never knew Winnie's family either. If you have any more information about Winnie's family, I would really appreciate it.
